I've visited one of my favourite wholesalers earlier and walking past the drinks section I found something that caught my eye, mostly because none of them had English labels so I was left guessing as to what they actually were.
I saw a lady loading up on these little bottles.

I've asked her what they were, she looked a bit embarrassed and said she doesn't really know how to explain it but that this one's her favourite and I should try it.
Looking at the label, I saw a 2.4% so I assumed it was some sort of weak beer, perfect for this weather so why not.
Got home and hit google up...well it seems I stumbled across a classic. This is a Kvass beer. I've never had this style before so I got excited. While it was chilling a bit of google translate told me that this one is "Made from rye bread dumplings" .
I love bread, I love beer ... there's no need to say anything else really; I was game!

Pours with a little head that doesn't last long.

Lovely light ruby colour. It smells like butter caramel. Tastes sweet but not sickly sweet, caramel notes, not as bready as I expected it to be but you can make it out, the malts are shining through and it has a lovely bitter finish to balance the sweetness off. I have no idea what the alcohol strength is though, that 2.4% was the amount of rye bread I think. Googling gives results of 0.5%. After drinking it, I think I might have had this style before; there was a little bar in my grandma's village that sold home made alcohol free beer; my cousin and I used to have that when we were kids; it had a really dark colour though but tasted very close to this.

Some people say that singing to your plants makes them grow better; well, I can tell you that they're a lot happier if you drink with them!
This will make those toms ripen way faster!

My lemon cucumbers are putting out so many of these furry balls!

By now I have thousands of these. Don't know what I'll do with all of them, going to see if the cucamelons can be pickled.

And a little view from the middle of the jungle to close things up for now.

Thanks for peeking at my post guys!

Cheers

PS: Guess who's going to brew some Kvass beer next?
