Novice League Tournaments are probably the only exception where the game escapes the pay2win mode.
Aside from that for me, Splinterlands is currently the worst Pay2Win game I have ever played. It is just too ridiculous for words. If I go to compete for the leaderboard rankings I get matched up with opponents that are multiple levels below me which basically gives me the win because I have a bigger investment in the game, If I move up to a higher league I am on the opposite side of the spectrum getting matched with players that are multiple levels above me.
There is just no fun to it whatsoever as the outcome of games are 80% of the time pure Pay2Win and the thing that worries me the most is that the devs don't seem to see it as an issue deflecting the entire pay2win aspect not understanding that it doesn't have anything to do with rewards.
A solution could be to take summoner levels as the reference for the different leagues instead of the broken collection score. I don't mind being faced against someone with a similar summoner level who has more cards. It's when you are at level 5 and you constantly get matched up with opponents at Level 8 that really needs to get fixed.
It's really sad to see how Splinterlands these days is all about money and greed instead of gameplay and fun.
