There are a lot of wildlife rehabbers out there who are fantastic and educated and experienced, but there are also a lot who are still stuck in the idea of animals not being intelligent because they don't demonstrate intelligence based on the human scale in the human world with all the human things that we grow up with and are exposed to from birth. I read (listened) to an amazing book called Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are that really opened my eyes (ears? mind?) to how limited human perceptions are when it comes to all the other living things we share the planet with.

Hope this doesn't sound like a rampage rage reply. I just, ugh. Sometimes experts are not experts...
