She's wearing a nest bib.
It's high crow maternity fashion in Portland, the nest bib is. When you wear one it shows everyone you've been dabbing mud into your nest and snuggling in tight to make sure it conforms to the shape of your body. All the rage this time of year.
Wearing one shows you've been making a nest and you're almost done.
It means you're about to DO IT and then squeeze out eggs and sit on those eggs for a long ass time making sure they stay warm and nobody eats them.
Junior, how can you be a mama? You still look like a little kid.
I remember you following your big brother around all googly-eyed and curious and amazed by everything he did, baby Junior. And now you're gonna go and make your own googly-blue-eyed babies (googly-blue is a color, just wait 'til you see those babies' eyes) and be all mama and shit?
It's too soon, Junior! I'm not ready.
But Junior's ready. Junior's past ready. She already DID IT and she's up on the nest on egg duty and I never get to see her and I MISS her, dammit! I MISS JUNIOR!!
