⚠️ Warning: Epic footage of killer whales inside. 👀
I'm back in Anchorage for the night before flying out and thought I'd share some of my latest Alaska adventures. Yesterday in Seward, I had the opportunity to go out on a wildlife expedition and see what the Alaskan coast has to offer. Despite a rainy forecast (and terrible weather the day before and after) we got a perfectly calm and sunny day. Even the staff on the boat said it was one of the best days they'd had all summer.
We were on the boat for 7.5 hours and saw so much! I don't think I've ever had a day fly by so quickly. In this travel vlog I chat about some of my highlights from the trip in the first part of the video, and then switch over to showing you footage in the second half. Here are a few of the highlights:
Floating in the heart of a massive mountain range. Each time you looked up there was a different and more epic view of the remote, beautiful country.
Up close and personal with two different glaciers. Ice as far as you could see! You'll see what I mean in the video footage - but it looks even more majestic than I was able to capture.
Large icebergs floating in the water.
Big chunks of ice falling off a glacier and the incredible noise that it makes.
Glacial margaritas! After we checked out the first glacier - the crew scooped up one of the ice chunks out of the water and then carved it into chunks of ice that they served with margaritas for the boat. I've never seen ice like that! It was full of bubbles and super cool.
A humpback whale get pretty close to the boat. (It barely surfased though so hard to capture on video)
Sea lines, puffin birds, dolphins and other cool oceanic wildlife.
Saving the best for last... we encountered an entire pod of orca's that came right up to the boat! I have some incredible footage in this video of them not only swimming right up to us, but of them jumping in the water a few minutes later! This was the absolute highlight of the trip and the crew said they rarely see orca's like that.
I hope you guys enjoy this video! I can't believe my time in Alaska is almost over and I have to fly home tomorrow. There is so much beauty to see and explore - so I will definitely be back.
If you want to skip to just the footage on the boat - skip ahead to about 4:20.
