MediBloc what is it?

MediBloc is a decentralised platform on the Ethereum Blockchain based on smart contracts (EVM), designed for the healthcare sector and enabling the secure, forgery-proof storage of medical data.

For whom?

MediBloc is a DApp that can be used by :

Care providers,
patients,
researchers for the purpose of medical research.

What interest for the patients?

The project aims to allow the control of our medical and surgical history... as well as their storage.
It gives the patient the decision to say who can have access to their medical data and it allows even if they wish to give access to their file to advance science and be rewarded for that!

Unfortunately, I have two autoimmune diseases (Gougerot Sjogren's syndrome and lupus eythematosus) and fibromyalgia, which means that my medical file is very voluminous.
This obviously poses several problems, in addition to the fact that it weighs heavily.

Indeed, the patient must be very rigorous because nothing must be lost, everything must be well classified so that the doctor does not lose an hour to look at everything.
In my file, everything is well classified by heading then by date from the oldest to the most recent which means that if the doctor looks for the last laboratory test, he finds it quickly. But this is not the case for everyone.
There are other problems when, for example, the patient does not receive the results because they are sent directly to the doctor. This means that I will not have all the results in my file and I must not forget to ask the doctor if I want my file to be complete.

What's the doctor's advantage?

This obviously saves his precious time, searching, searching the document he want in a huge file and asking the patient:

But where is your blood test? but what did the rheumatologist I sent you? or is the mail?

The doctor can improve the way he treats the patients.
For example, if the patient forgets to say he has cirrhosis. And the doctor, because he doesn't know about it, prescribes treatment for the pain. Okay, so far so good, except that the drug is hepatotoxic, it means it's forbidden to take it when you're liver sick.
So the doctor will make a mistake because the patient hasn't told his full history.

What interest for medical research?

I will give you my example. I was part of a research program for my disease (Gougerot syndrome). So obviously, I wasn't paid for it, well it's not that bad but with MediBlock, just by giving access to your data (without doing the guinea pig) you are rewarded.
Well, I figured it doesn't matter, it'll advance the research.
So I took a lot of treatment without being told the side effects, the dangers and I had to go to the hospital all the time to do lots of tests. It was very tiring, I felt like a guinea pig, a laboratory rat...
But with MediBloc, if research can access many patients' records (which is impossible today) by paying patients to get the data, it allows researchers to move much faster with access to multiple records.
All this is of course HIPAA compliant with access impossible without patient authorization thanks to Blockchain technology.

What about the MediBloc platform?

Base layer

Intended for storage space and, as additional since the healthcare data is huge and requires a lot of storage, it will not be provided on the ETH Blockchain but in IPFS.

Service layer

This layer links the core layer to the application layer and facilitates data recovery through intelligent contracts.

Application layer

All applications work within this layer and can access patient medical data.
Since the block chain technology is used, any changes are instantly visible, making it impossible for unauthorized personnel to modify the data.
All this ensures the security and authenticity of the data, which partly explains why health care data are not freely accessible at present.

The tokens

There are two different tokens on the MediBloc platform:

MEDI Token (MED) is a cryptocurrency that allows patients to give access and make care purchases for example,
MEDI Point (MP) is a token that is only intended for the MediBloc network. MP is a points system to give users and organizations a better position in the MediBloc platform.
MEDs can be used outside the platform while MPs can only be used on MediBlock.

Conclusion

The project is very solid and raises an important issue in the health sector.
The partnership with Oracle and maybe one day with ICON looks very promising
