Hey boys and girls!
This is my first post here on Steemit, so for starters just a quick introduction from me. My name is Luka, 32 years old and I’m a professional poker player. 👋
I’ve been on a bit of hiatus for more than a year now, because PokerStars exited my country of Slovenia in July last year, due to new legislation that it’s preparing here. Before that I was PokerStars sponsored pro for almost 3 years, so this was quite a blow for me. We all thought it’s going to be a short wait before the biggest poker site is back, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. 😕
About a month ago I decided that I can’t wait anymore so I jumped back at the tables! Before all this I was a Limit Hold’em player, but this game isn’t really popular on other sites besides PokerStars, so I was pretty much forced to (finally) change my main game.
So why the title “Old Dog Learning New Tricks”? Well, me being 32 years old I kinda fall into “old category” in world of poker. Especially considering that I was playing the same variant for more than 10 years now. And now I’m trying to learn a new trick, which in this case is No Limit Hold’em.
It’s basically now or never. This is probably my last chance to reignite my poker career and I’m also starting from the beginning. Not two years ago I was playing what would be equivalent to NL400 or something, I was sponsored by the biggest poker site in the world, streaming on Twitch almost daily. And now today I’m starting on NL10, playing basically for cents.
It’s going to be hard, but I have to consider this as an investment. I also have a bit of a head start from my competition. First and foremost it’s my discipline which almost all players at these limits will lack off. I’m also not necessarily limited by bankroll either. And second is my 10+ years of experience. I know No Limit Hold’em or any other game is quite different than Limit Hold’em, but I hope I picked up some stuff along the way that can help me in whatever game I’d take on. If it didn’t, that would be kinda sad to be honest…
So expect some more posts here on Steemit from me. I’ll be posting graphs and numbers of my journey. I intend to be super transparent about it, so make sure to follow me! 😃
