It's such a blessing that my family and friends are okay. I can't even imagine how scared they must have been. My mom, who was at my aunt's house, told me that the shaking was so strong that she had to go down a flight of stairs leading to the street sitted down so she could get out without falling.

But, anyway, what remains is to see how we can help the most vulnerable in the wake of this tragedy. As for the reconstruction of the hardest-hit areas, I don’t want to be pessimistic, but who knows if I’ll live to see it, given the way things are going in the country.
