I also love the smell of wet earth when it rains, it's something I miss about my home in Caracas. But now that I spend time in Bogota, there are many more rainy afternoons than I would like, and the city becomes chaotic, so I try not to go out, but sometimes it's inevitable. At home, I never go out with an umbrella, but here I use one every day. I even take it with me when the sun is shining because here you never know, haha.
