"A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent."

— Unknown

Good places to have a coffee are not lacking these days, the truth is that every day there are more to choose from, but despite the great offer, I always appreciate when chance makes me discover a small café with personality, those that maybe are not so well known but that invite you to want to spend a good time with a cup of coffee and a chat, or reading a book while you sip a cappuccino. Or maybe just watching life pass with an espresso.

And yesterday's chance led me to discover one of these little cafes. I was running some errands with my husband, and we were ready to get in the car when some yellow umbrellas on the first floor of the building we were parked in front of caught my attention. When I saw the place's name, La Taza, I couldn't help but suggest we have a coffee.

The place was small but cozy, and the staff was very friendly. We ordered a couple of cappuccinos, and I couldn't resist when I saw the dessert display to order a piece of carrot cake.

We sat outside the cafe. These days we appreciate those places with outdoor tables, and here it is also nice to sit outside in the shade of one of those leafy trees common to find on the sidewalks in this part of town.

When the coffees were brought to us, the place that had already gained some of my appreciation gained much more. The way the coffees were served was nice and original. And the coffee was delicious, creamy as I like cappuccino.

However, the carrot cake was on another level, one of the best I have eaten in recent times, and I can say that I have eaten many because I love carrot cake. This one was fluffy, the frosting cream was perfect and not cloying, and the cake had a touch of lemon zest that gave it an exquisite touch.

It was so good that we went home with two servings to go.

We enjoyed the time, the chat, the cake, and the coffee. What more could you ask for.

So if you are around here or life brings you some time to these Venezuelan lands, and you visit Caracas, this is a great place for a coffee, it is on the 2nd avenue of Los Palos Grandes, and it is called La Taza.

Thank you very much for reading.
