Well the plan yesterday was to delivery drive after work. I ended up doing just one delivery. I got a decent delivery offer and headed to the merchant. Upon arriving the merchant I found out they were closed.
I felt defeated a bit seeing the signage. After all, I drove about 5 miles to get there. I got compensation for driving there but I'd rather completed the order and got the $12 something for it. Instead I was given the standard $3 for the attempt. Afterwards I proceeded to a larger restaurant area and waited for another order. I waited for about 30 minutes and no order offers. It's was Tuesday, the slowest delivery day of the week in my opinion. I decided to end my delivery driving and check out a place called Look Out Point.
The name of this place is just that a look out point where you can see parts of both Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. Not a lot of sunlight available and it was getting darker every step I took. It was a gloomy cloudy day and the sun was getting ready to set when I arrived. This place is on top of a bluff here. Council Bluffs has many of these bluffs that surround the East side of town. A lot of trees here and I know in a couple of weeks the views we be even more fall themed. Also at this place they have numerous trails through the forest here.
A lot of trails here and to the most part the trails are decently wide. A lot of the trail is covered with wood chips. So when your walking on the ground it feels soft and good on your feet. The mixture of yellow, brown, and green leaves gave off a source of natural light. Almost like the forrest had the lights turned on dim.
The walk in started flat with a steadily uphill climb. The inclines were short nothing to steep that would bring on an extensive leg workout. The views of trees and the changing leaves colors were everywhere. The inner side of the trail you could see a steep down hill slope in the center.
Like I said above so many leaves around. Low hanging branches allow you to see, smell, and feel the forest. Not a lot of different species of trees maybe five in total so most leaves were yellowish brown but there were some red ones as well. It was a bit windy so you could also hear the braches hitting others and also the sound of leaves flapping on trees and moving along on the forest floor or through the air.
Not just trees in this forest there were some wild bushes. A lot of these berry bushes were located right off the trails. I picked some to smell them and even squished some to feel the texture. The smell smelt sweet and I could imagine it having a bitter sweet taste. I am not sure if they are edible or not. I could see tasting them and having a digestive issue later, no thank you. Worst case scenario I could drop and become part of the forest permanently, not worth the risk 馃槀
I found me a little furry friend with some ears 馃槉 The forest offers good habit for wildlife and gives them great cover to blend in with it. At first the rabbit darted across the trail as my eyes tracked where it rested. The rabbit was not camera shy as I talked to it softly to keep it at bay. The rabbit stayed still mostly and it felt like it knew what I wanted it to do. It even hopped a little a bit forward and turned to give me a different angle to take more pictures. I let it be after awhile and walked away. I looked back after I walked away a few feet, still there. I much felt that it may follow me but it did not.
One of the last shots I took was through the trees at the setting sunset. I wish I had more time here but it's no fun walking in the dark. At least I got the legs stretched and got to see a bit of changing nature and some small wildlife.
It wasn't cold today, actually it was a bit warm for this time of year here. Today when I woke up I chose to wear my common fall weather attire. That's a pullover sweatshirt with jeans and some comfy sneakers. It turned out to be a good choice as I ended up taking a walk in the woods.
This post is my submission to #wenesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. It's been awhile since I have submitted here. It feels great to write here and get some steps in.
Thanks for checking out my article. I much appreciate the support and your time. Take care, be safe and may the rest of your week go well.
