At Egypt's request and with their coordination, Israel and the Israeli Defense Force have launched more than 100 classified airstrikes in the Sinai peninsula to destroy and deter ISIS/ISIL/Daesh's forces. For "whatever reason," Egypt has been unable to control ISIL's encroachment and therefore made the request of Israel. Not wanting to show itself to its people as aligned with its northern neighbor, and due to the general anti-Israel sentiment in the area, and despite the IDF's success, the strikes were classified by the Egyptian government.
