It's Thursday afternoon. We've spent the last four mornings skiing at Perisher Resort in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales (Australia).
I've had a blast.
My skiing has improved. A lot. We covered a lot of the mountain and did most of the green (easy) runs and many of blue (intermediate) runs. I might have also accidentally done a black run. The jury is out on that one.
One things for sure: we took a lot of (beautiful) photos.
So many, in fact, that I decided it was high time I joined this group... almost two years after joining Hive 馃槀馃榿馃槉
Please accept the following photos as my delightful expression of a week at the snow that I am immensely grateful to have experienced.
The first one is of the view over Lake Jindabyne at first light.
Next, this is what it looks like when you look down at your "feet" as a skier on a chairlift. Fun, hey?
And this is a Snow Gum, a kind of Eucalyptus tree that (I think!) only grows in this (snowy) part of Australia. I adore looking at snow that's wrapped around these trees. It makes my heart happy. So much so that I would smile everytime I was on a chairlift going over them. And when I had a chance to ski between them? I was so there!
Why is a photo of a half drunk coffee in my top five favourite photos? Because it's my reminder that I did some hard things. I decided I wanted this overpriced coffee when I was halfway down a very steep, technically difficult run underneath Mt Perisher. I used it as a bribe to get through the tough stuff and revelled in drinking it as a celebration that I did the hard thing and didn't have a meltdown or demand a way to escape the exact thing I'd signed up for. So it was part celebration, part bribe/reward and part self-nurture being that it was a warm, yummy drink.
Finally, this was a photo of the mountains on the drive in this morning. I reckon the drive in is almost as wonderful as the skiing itself. As Brad drives I get to stare out the window at snow and trees and mountains and clouds. And it's lovely.
