Those of you who follow me will know that I am keen on all the different dapps on blockchain. One that is very popular, and I have had my eye on for a while is @steemmonsters. Last week I took the dive and purchased my starter pack (which cost $10USD), and wanted to share my experience and some tips for others who are looking at starting playing this game - I am loving it!

Do your research

I repeat - DO YOUR RESEARCH!

I was pretty excited to get started so just jumped in after buying my starter pack, and kept losing battles and didn't really know why. I would advise others to do some research before starting playing battles - join the Discord server (There is a join link on their website), as there are many helpful people who are willing to help out and teach.

I would also highly recommend reading the post as it gives a great explanation of the different elements of the cards and what they do. This saved me alot of time, and helped me understand the mechanics of the game (at a basic level anyway!).

I also suggest checking out the Youtube channel "Making Money" (run by Steemian @just2random),who has posted a few good strategy videos for SteemMonsters reccently. Here is a great video which I found helpful about "5 ways to earn crypto playing SteemMonsters":

To help out people sharing great content like this you can either go to their Youtube chanel and upvote and/or subscribe, and also check out their blog here on Steemit and upvote some of their recent content.

Ready for Battle!

After doing some research you will be ready to get to battle! There are regular battles which you compete for a season "leaderboard", and move up through the leagues (higher leagues mean more rewards in terms of extra cards). I have managed to get into Bronze II level after just a week of trial and error, and now have a very basic handle of how the game works, and some of the battle mechanics - but I still have a lot to learn! Bronze II means at the end of the season I will earn 9 SteemMonster cards - cool!

I wont go into the specifics of battles in this post as I am still a beginner (maybe I will save it for a future post when I feel more confident).

There are also loads of tournaments whee you compete with others for prizes in Steem - I havent entered any yet but will be looking at these very soon. I am sure you will hear from me if I do well in one :)
