I first entered the crypto space in late 2017. STEEM was one of my first crypto investments. I heard about the platform from an investment subscription I had purchased and then cancelled to get my original money back.

I was confused at first. I didn't know at all what I was doing. The whole space was a completely new atmosphere for me and a little daunting to begin with. I started posting and users reached out to help. The first person that helped settle me in was buttcoins@buttcoins (special thanks to you). I felt welcomed and eventually started getting more and more comfortable with the platform. After a while I was pretty much doing my thing, finding ways to enhance and spur my creativity, work on my writing and communication skills, and connecting with users from all over the world.

I have met some awesome people on this platform and have even worked closely with some of them to build projects and expand the vision beyond STEEM. One of the coolest things that probably ever happened to me on STEEM was during a summer trip to Europe with my father, super-irie@super-irie (who I introduced to STEEM in August 2019 - check him out!)

We traveled in 2018 to Switzerland and Greece as a graduation gift from my father. We met up with some of his lifelong friends and they put us up in their home for 5 days before we flew into Athens, Greece to begin our 24-day Cyclades island hop. They live in a little town (more like a village) with less than 400 people in Lugano, Switzerland. I posted from their balcony in Neggio (the name of the village) and another steemian steemitri@steemitri commented on my post saying he knew another steemian that lived in that very village.

I thought to myself, "there's no way." A village with less than 400 people, in Lugano, in all of the places throughout the entire world. Not a chance. Turned out steemitri@steemitri was right. I could literally see the-beard@the-beard's house from our friends house located atop the mountain overlooking the Lake of Lugano. The very next day, I ended up having my first ever steemit meet-up with the-beard@the-beard at the village park. It was literally the coolest thing ever getting to meet up with another human being that is part of the greater ecosystem. STEEM has many powerful attributes -

One of many being - global connections.

That's probably the coolest thing about STEEM for me. I talk to people all across the globe on a daily basis because I have found this platform, which has become a hobby of mine I devote about 1.5 hours per day to. I am still able to prioritize my time such that I get other things accomplished, but I generally make time for my daily dose of STEEM.

The diverse nature of the STEEM blockchain has also allowed for me to take on some more in-depth roles since the advent of steem-engine. I have found a few tribes which I devote much of my time to. One being spinvest@spinvest and the other being reggaesteem@reggaesteem. I have also accepted more internal roles with both because they are projects I see as having bright futures ahead. Reggaesteem has been an especially unique find for me because the roots of this tribe stem back to Negril, Jamaica - a place I have been to many times in my 23 years of life (thanks super-irie@super-irie).

I have harnessed this and created value as well as traced back fond memories that may have otherwise just sat saved on a flash drive for years on end with no recollection taken. Instead, reggaesteem has given me the privilege to recall these memories and remember them as if they were happening again in real time. I hope to one day meet many of the members from this tribe, especially my breddas dmilliz@dmilliz donald.porter@donald.porter miyard@miyard and crypticat@crypticat whom I speak with on a more regular basis.

The opportunities in this space are essentially limitless and I believe those of us here are going to see serious changes come in the future. Good changes since we are here now. The one thing we need more of is people to let go of the "trust barriers" which are often associated with crypto and blockchain. We are early, and - I am glad I have been fortunate to find STEEM, express myself through personal creations, and connect on a global scale with those of you who are a part of STEEM as well.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this a positive experience for me since November 2017
