This small portrait was the product of a small overflow of inspiration this morning, it is a self-portrait that I drew a couple of years ago but never finished it, at that time I did not understand very well how to use oils, however, at these heights of life, I am not to put off a potentially good deed.

While looking through my old paintings I found this canvas drawn with a brown pencil, and despite not being totally convinced at first, after a while detailing the canvas I took my paintings and a little white spirit. As a general rule, you cannot paint with oils without using white, however I tried to substitute it with the Meat Tint, which worked perfectly and gave me a fairly warm and contrasting color palette.

This painting has a strong influence from Edvard Munch's portraits, I wanted to give myself the freedom to give long and consistent strokes, I wanted to paint freely, after all, painting is useless if I don't have the luxury of enjoying it.

Este pequeño retrato fue producto de un pequeño desborde de inspiración la mañana de hoy, se trata de un autorretrato que dibujé hace un par de años pero nunca lo terminé, en ese momento no entendía muy bien como usar los óleos, sin embargo, a estas alturas de la vida, no estoy para posponer una obra potencialmente buena.

Mientras revisaba entre mis viejas pinturas encontré este lienzo trazado con un lápiz de color marrón, y a pesar de no estar totalmente convencido al principio, luego de un rato detallando el lienzo tomé mis pinturas y un poco de aguarrás. Por norma general no se puede pintar con óleos sin usar el color blanco, sin embargo intenté sustituirlo con el Tinte Carne, el cual funcionó perfectamente y me dio una paleta de colores bastante cálida y contrastante.

Esta pintura tiene una fuerte influencia de los retratos de Edvard Munch, quise darme la libertad de dar trazos largos y consistentes, quise pintar con libertad, después de todo, de nada me sirve pintar si no me doy el lujo de disfrutarlo.

The artist is the being with the most sacred duty in the world, since his life is devoted to the great task of immortalizing our identity as humanity to be remembered in posterity, and even knowing that one day the end of our collective history will come; Knowing that at some point there will be no trace of our ephemeral stay on this earth, it is the artist who consecrates his life so that future generations can take a look at the past.

Part of this footprint that is immortalized for posterity, is linked to the artist's ability to create from scratch, to show the world something that has not been seen before, even if it starts from the reference of other artists.

Es el artista el ser con el deber mas sagrado del mundo, pues su vida se consagra a la magna tarea de inmortalizar nuestra identidad como humanidad para ser recordada en la posteridad, y aún sabiendo que algún día llegará el fin de nuestra historia colectiva; sabiendo que en algún momento no quedará rastro de nuestra efímera estadía en esta tierra, es el artista pues, quien consagra su vida para que las generaciones futuras puedan echar un vistazo al pasado.

Parte de esta huella que se inmortaliza para la posteridad, está ligada a la capacidad del artista para crear desde cero, para mostrar al mundo algo que no se ha visto antes, incluso si parte de la referencia de otros artistas.
