Hi, I just join your community, I鈥檓 a big bird lover. And I will use this first post to introduce my self and my passion for birds.
I live in Florida, I been raise in the Laurentides north of Montreal, with a bird encyclopedia in one and and pen and paper in the other counting birds species I observe.
I got one of my best bird stories around 5 years ago, we had a green parrots 馃 nest in the palm tree of the neighbor, and one of the young ones, probably trying is first flight, end up injure on my yard side.
I had a bird cage laying in the shed that became useful. I nested the bird for 3 weeks, gave him a name. Is family was visiting him every day, no matter how close I was from him, it felt like I was The Godfather of Ast茅rix, the name I gave him.
I went to the pirates bar, walk daily my dog witj Ast茅rix on my shoulder. Until he was good enough to just take is flight during a walk. And gone he was.
The neighbor took down the palm tree shortly after this event. My parrots nephew and is family had to move. Every time I see a flock of Green Parrots, I like to think it鈥檚 Ast茅rix, I call is name and whistle.
