Final Fantasy XV isn't a masterpiece. The story has quite a few chinks that feel like there should be more, some of the gameplay features such as the weapons leave more to be desired but everything that works well is wonderful. Driving the Regalia down the sunsoaked roads of the desert and the plains of Eos while the main party chatter amongst one another, going to battle with monsters for game or to clear a dungeon is always satisfying with the simple but expansive combat, and winding down at a drive-in or city and participating in the casts favourite passtimes are always a joy to fulfill. The open world does a lot to give the player a sense of immersion and enjoyment, with your friends always tagged alongside you. And don't even get me started on the story and the characters. The main leads are absolutely the most compelling and believable characters to ever be put in a videogame, from their personalities to their aspirations, even just the way they interact with each other while playing in the open world all the way to the amount of care that went into the tiny details of the way they animate and react to the world around them. Seriously, the main characters will, for certain, grow on as you play the game. By the end of it, I had teared and choked up on multiple occasions as I watched the game reach it's conclusion.
FFXV is a really amazing game. The gameplay is perfect for an action RPG, the world is great, the story is amazing and the characters are some of the best you will get in a video game. But most of all, it's a game about comradery, true friendship, a brotherhood. Something I struggle so hard to find. Something that I wish I could have. I really cherish Final Fantasy XV a lot for that reason and much more.
