Recently i've hear many people talking about phones causing cancer in the long run, so i decided to do a bit of research.
When calling others on a cell phone using the user interface on a phone, a transmitter is used to take the sound vibrations of your voice and then encodes it onto a continuous sine wave. A sine wave is just a type of continuously varying wave that radiates out from the antenna in the phone and fluctuates evenly through space. Sine waves are generally measured in terms of frequency, which is the number of times a wave moves up and down in a second. Once the sound which is encoded has been placed on the sine wave, the transmitter sends the signal to the antenna which then sends the signal that is then received on another phone through the receiver. The radio waves that send encoded signals are made up of electromagnetic radiation generated by the antenna, the radio transmitter is to launch the radio waves into space, and these are the very radio waves that many people believe that these radio waves are what can lead to the long term effect of cancer. These electromagnetic radiation waves are made up of waves of electric and magnetic energy that move at the speed of light. When calling someone or taking a call, most users place the phone against their head, there is a chance that some of the radiation that is emitted will be absorbed by the human tissue. This type of radiation is known as non-ionizing radiation, which is a type of radiation that is typically safe, it can cause some heating effects, but usually is not enough to cause any long term effects. If phones were to emit ionizing radiation then phones would without a doubt would cause cancer, ionizing radiation is high frequency, able to strip atoms and cells. Studies have shown that exposure to ionizing radiation, such as x-rays can increase the risk of cancer. Although there is no evidence to date proving that phones do increase or cause the risk of cancer.
in my overall opinion is that phones may cause some long term health effects due to excessive use, but I don't believe that phones cause cancer, if they did it would have already been known by now. There has been extensive amounts of research that has been put into this topic, and all studies find no evidence proving that phones give cancer. Worst case phones may cause some neck strain and that's about it.
