Yeah, we have similar issues with coal. They call the liquid tailings coal slurry here (with arsenic and mercury for flavor), one failed in Martin County back in 2000 and their water is still fucked. There's a short documentary on it that I think Appalshop put out, the situation there is as bad if not worse than Flint, Michigan, even to this day.

As bad as all this is, the Soviets put us to shame. The 'solution' to dealing with nuclear waste was to dump it in a lake.
