Unity is an important thing that is needed in the church of God. Without it we will fail as church for any kingdom divided against itself will not stand but fall.
In one of Jesus' prayers, he prayed that all those that are in him may be one even as he is with the father. This is why untiy is som important.
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to you. Holy Father, keep through your own name those whom you have given me, that they may be one, as we are. John 17:11
God can't accomplish His divine purpose here on earth if we as church is divided. He needs people who with one accord and are in agreement concerning anything they do or intend to do.
For this reason the devil has made it his agenda to cause schism is the house God, causing brethrens to hate one another and to fight one another. If the devil can get us to fight against ourselves then he is sure to win any battle he starts.
People who live together in unity look beautiful in the sight of God. It is precious thing in the sight of God just like how the bible described it like the precious oil flowing from the head of Aaron to his beard and flowing down to the edge of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon falling on Zion's mountain.
Look how good and how pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil on the head, descending to the beard— even to Aaron’s beard— and flowing down to the edge of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon falling on Zion’s mountains. For there the LORD commanded his blessing— life everlasting. Psalm 133
We can surely achieve nothing if we give room to the devil to cause us to offend one another. The devil needs people who are divided in order to penetrate and cause his evil deeds.
God needs people who are so united and that is why Apostle Paul admonished us and made us undertsand that we interdependent.
For by one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now has God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has pleased him. And if they were all one member, where would be the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of you: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our less respectable parts have greater respect. For our more respectable parts have no need: but God has arranged the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 1 Corinthians 13-25
We need each other to work as church. We are not to look down on any member of the body of Christ but to treat all with care and honour.
We must understand that we need each other and failure to achieve cohesiveness in the church will lead to failure in achieving oir mission on earth.
