The will is one the greatest power God ever gave man. Your will is your power of choice and in it lies your desires, inclination, wishes, intents, likes and delights. With this power of choice, you decide for yourself whether to obey or not to obey God or the devil. That is what God gave man to see whether he can use it to honour Him and the devil took advantage of it.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying , "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat , for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Genesis 2:16-17

The tempter will always search for what you are easily inclined to and desire for and use it against you. Satan saw that God has given man the power of choice and that is a good area to start an attack.

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And He said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' "Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."Gen.3:1-6

After interviewing the woman concerning their power of choice her areas of weakness were exposed:

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food , that it was pleasant to the eyes , and a tree desirable to make one wise , she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and He ate. Genesis 3:7

In the will of man there lies lust for food, pleasures of the eye, and desire for power (wisdom)

The devil may not know your weakness but he can discover them through your will because in there lies your desires.

God wants you to submit your will to Him so His will can prevail in your life and likewise the devil too. The lives of many people have been destroyed because they followed their own will and never followed the will of God for their life.

The will of God always seems unfavorable at the beginning

During the latter days of Jesus Christ he had a great challenge concerning his personal will and the will of God for his life. He came to a crossroads where he has to make a choice. It was at this point he had to decide. He decided to choose God's will instead of his.

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Mathew 26:37-39

Following the will of God always appear to be an lonely experience

Following the will of God separates you from many things, you will be separated from some friends, some lifestyles, some attitudes etc. Nobody wants to be at a place where he is left alone. Jesus came to that point all because he wanted to follow the will of God.

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. John 16:32

It is important to follow the will of God

Until His will prevail in your life you cannot be made whole

If you have tried all you could concerning an issue in your life and couldn't prevail then my question is: did you ask God for His will?

The sick man that was laid at the pool for 38 years narrated all his horrible experiences to Jesus, but he still didn't go ahead healing him until he asked whether he wanted to be made whole. God cannot go ahead doing things for you until you invite him in. He could have heal him anyway but then he wanted to find out if this man would surrender to him for healing.

Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. John 5:5-9

God’s will for your life will perfect you

Following your own will always lead to mistakes and misdirection. It is only God who knows best and that is the more reason He is worth hearing and worth guiding.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

God bless you today
