One of the biggest problems in Christianity now is familiarity. We are so familiar with the things of God that we take many things for granted. Many Christians hardly pray, meditate on the scriptures and engage in fasting.
They pay little attention to these exercises that help to build their spirit and soul. Some People will easily skip church services and prayer meeting becuase they feel it is something they do always and nothing will happen if they fail to partake
God is no one's class mate that we should play with, falling in his hand is a dreadful thing. We can be unserious with many things but not the things of God.
Anytime I read the story about Samson I see a man who took God for granted. He failed to appreciate the powerful anointing upon his life and so the sudden demise of his mission and life.
He played with God's anointing for he knew God will always be around no matter what he does. He realised that the anointing is stirred up the moment he shakes himself and so he never considered prayer as something he needed to do at all times neither did he have time for God except when he was in trouble.
We can't use God, we will only end up being the victims of own circumstances. Were you not the one that use to pray for hours? why is it that now you find reasons to justify your life of prayerlessness?
Why does it look to you that you have arrived and that you underrate the power of prayer, the word of God, fasting and good virtues like holiness, sanctification.
And she said, The Philistines be upon you, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he knew not that the LORD was departed from him. Judges 16:20
Samson was so use to the anointing that he cared little for God's instructions concerning his life. He thought God will always be with him.
He prayed only in times of trouble and not when all was well. You can drain or lose the anointing and anything God has blessed you with the moment you underestimate their value.
