But you’ll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you’ll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.Acts 1:8
A lot of people wants power to perform miracles and do exploits these days but hate the act of witnessing about the Christ. God's power miraculous power comes upon us for one purpose and that is to be his witness. God won't give us anything if it will never be beneficial to his kingdom or bring glory to Him.
God wasn't impressed with the kind of acts the Apostles and the early believers did after the Holy spirit came upon them but the souls they won for Him.
Soul winning is a heavenly business God is so much interesred in than anything. It is what brings great joy in heaven and brings smiles on the faces of the heavenly beings.
We have the Holy Spirit with us and the gifts of the spirit distributed separately to each one according to God's will. The main reason is to bear witness about the Christ and to lead souls to God. Witnessing about Christ and winning souls for God is the main reason God gives us the gifts.
Today we have many Christians but is just the few out of the majority who have taken upon themselves to proclaim the things they have seen, read or have witnessed by the help of the Holy Spirit.
A witness is someone who gives an account of event or occurence because he has seen or has a personal knowledge of that particular event or occurence.
We never saw Christ in person but we see him through the holy spirit. The holy ghost is the ghost of Christ and tells us evrything that Jesus wanted to tell and everything he hears from the father.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also. At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. John 14:16-20
We know Jesus Christ through the holy spirit and are witness to the truth that he is alive. We don't need to finish the whole scriptures before we can witness about the christ.
The one who reveals the Christ and gives us what to say or proclaim about him is already in us, and so we can be a good witness of all his account.
When you meet somebody and wants to share about the Christ, don't try hard to search for scriptures to proof a point, just let him know what has happened to you ever since you accepted Christ as your Lord and saviour.
If we accept [as we do] the testimony of men [if we are willing to take human authority], the testimony of God is greater (of stronger authority), for this is the testimony of God, even the witness which He has borne regarding His Son. He who believes in the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] has the testimony [possesses this divine attestation] within himself. He who does not believe God [in this way] has made Him out to be and represented Him as a liar, because he has not believed (put his faith in, adhered to, and relied on) the evidence (the testimony) that God has borne regarding His Son. 1 John 5:9-19(AMPL)
