Tether Under Scrutiny

#Tether, a huge #crypto-player facing allegations of shady money flows, which range from drug trafficking to terrorism.

US officials are digging in, suggesting Tether may have helped some seriously questionable people move money around, even allegedly Russian arms dealers and groups like Hamas.

To put this in context, Tether's "stablecoin" is pegged to the US dollar. Hence, it's a lifeline in places where dollars are in scarce supply or outright banned. The CEO of Tether, Ardoino, claims it is all absolutely rubbish, noise recycled from elsewhere. The US Treasury may sanction the company anyway.

Even if Tether is not involved, global use would make any impropriety a huge problem.
