There are many upvote bots on Steemit that will upvote your post at a price. The higher price you pay the higher the upvote. Some are instant upvotes and other are every 2.4 hours.
Some of the bots are so popular they have difficulty with scaling and need to change the rules every week or so.
It is great to get a $7.50 upvote from paying only $5. That is a 150% return on investment. But are you really getting $7.50 on pay day?
At the end of 7 days it is pay day for your post, but you don’t get paid $7.50. Why not? There are 2 reasons. You are sharing 25% rewards with curators and your post loses value over time because of the Steemit ecosystem. This is difficult to calculate because the more time it takes to pay out the more the value falls over time. That is why I try to buy on day 6, but 12 hours before day 7.
To calculate your real return, you need to subtract the $1.875 curation reward that goes to members from your $7.50 pay out. That leaves you with $5.625 author reward pay out. That gives me a return of 12.5% ($0.625/$5.00*100) and not 50% as you might expect to receive.
12.5% in 1 to 7 days is a great return, but that is on $5 dollars. What if I want to scale it? You can't, because the bot cannot scale. :(
