There is something strange when you have a lot more time to do things. It's certainly fair to say that I wanted to play games a lot but by uninstalling all my games and with the games taking so long to install again, it just seems like I can find other things to do to occupy my time. This is certainly a good thing and though I might not be having as much fun than not playing video games, I'm certainly feeling a lot more fufilled.
I understand a lot of people are using Steemit as a way to show big blogs and little blogs. I actually love Twitter. Well Tweetdeck.... I think it's a great way to throw out your opinion about something and let people know. Unfortunately with my Twitter account it is certainly geared within all things gaming and also, the character limit does nothing to help. Therefore I might be using this platform as a means of doing that. It's easy and I don't need to worry about having to have my own site to do that for now.
With the newly aquired time, I started to read the whitepaper for Steem. It's still quite hard for me to understand. I'm a picture learner so reading a technical whitepaper does little to help me. The Bluepaper didn't give me enough information at all so that didn't help in the slightest though it was a primer if anything. What I did get out of it all was SP was to be used in the investment of Steem and SBD was essentially debt but was short term gain. Regardless of both, I was more interested to see if Steem could balance out the voting system correctly and from what I could gauge from my little understanding, it can. On this own accord, applications which use Steem as a coin application, are going to find a lot of success.
So this one is a little strange to explain so here we go. The Steem platform allows you to be seen infront of many of people. At the start, terrible content existed but because it was the best content around, people upvoted it. Now if the content isn't what you actually want to see but you upvote it, you're technically not helping the platform but trying to gain of it for purely monetary gain which is a piss poor thing for Steem.
What Steem is designed to do is allow applications to give people a platform to show something. A good example would be @dtube. Though people can try to game and manipulate people to enginner content that will most likely get upvotes which I feel doesn't help Steem at all, I feel Steem helps with awareness. If you gain Steem Power, you have the power to allow yourself or others to be seen. The more you get seen, the more you can keep doing what you wish. Now clearly making money isn't a bad thing but if you're just working on the platform PURELY to make money, the mindset isn't ever going to work right.
If you're focused to making great content so that other people share it and want other people to see it, this is where Steem really kicks in with whatever platform you want to use. If I make a video about myself per week about how I'm learning how to code/program, maybe others will be interested in that and will appreicate the post being made and give value for more than wanting to make money within the platform but rather promote myself also.
This is why when I see people stating how to make money with Steem, it makes little sense to me. For some instances, it's fine because of production costs and this can be recouped via Steem. However people only trying to make money from Steem rather than promoting their content and using Steem to elevate themselves is what makes Steem based applications, a mess.
You can certainly make money from Steem but don't make it a focus. Use Steem for what it is. Finding good content and promoting it so others can see it and that whoever made it, can continue making it. The more they get, the better their content. If they drop the ball, someone else will be there to scoop up the rewards.
Time is starting to break down fast for me. I will be moving house very soon and it's now my decision to start thinking about myself and my own plans. As said in my previous blogs, I'm looking to become a programmer and do it as fast as possible. With this I have eliminated playing computer games and this is certainly helping me a lot. For instance, I wouldn't be typing this here and trying to interact with the Steem community. I aim to work more with d.tube in whatever capacity I can. The idea to make videos without fear of censorship and to credit those for making great videos, is something that I like. Steem could actually be a good way of crediting movie creators also. Regardless any Steem platform needs as many tools as possible to make it easier for users to develop their ideas.
As for myself, I have a book behind me I'm going to read, a donated Udemy course for all things Javascript, lots of tutorials within IPFS and within D.tube itself. There are many of avenues which I can take to learning and I think I'll just take them all. The difference now, I have given myself more time so I can maybe enter into the world of work, a little quicker.
The book I'm reading is called the Javascript and jQuery book made by John Duckett. It's one of the best laid out technical books I have ever read. I do advise for anyone wanting to follow in my steps to take the chance and get the book, as it works as a strong learning/reference position.
I'll probably be updating this quite a lot. I do feel I like to express myself a lot. Verball, written and on the dancefloor and that looks like it's going to happen a lot more. We shall see. Winter is starting to fade away and Summer is only a couple of months away. We shall see how things go!
