PoW adds a couple of layers of indirection to the money=power equation, PoS makes it extremely direct - and the power is over the rules of the system itself. PoW is fundamentally better (especially if you consider crypto transactionally instead of as a pure investment construct).
I can see from govt and banks' perspectives why they want PoS, but I genuinely don't see a good argument for it from the bulk of humanity's perspective
Yeah I get people don't want to burn more rotted ancient lifeforms to keep PoW going, so encourage using renewable energy for doing so if that's a major priority for you. But banning them entirely is a bad idea for the majority of humanity.
It's also fundamentally counter to basic freedoms - we won't let you do this kind of maths. Seriously?
I have no problem with those who choose to make a PoS system - they can do as they please, I don't have to agree with what they're doing for them to be able to do it.
But there's a massive difference between allowing people to do something and forcing everyone else to do that thing too by banning alternatives.
