I went to a wedding in Austria this summer as an American. At one point, a bunch of Germans gathered around me and were just ridiculous.

German Guy: So, I heard ya'll have to pay like $100 a month for healthcare.
Me: I pay $427 a month for Healthcare.
German Guy: That's insane.
Me: I know.
German Guy: But that covers everything, right?
Me: It covers nothing until you have spend $5,000 out of your own pocket. I had a pulled hamstring I paid $800 for a doctor to check out, nothing was covered.
German Guy: We don't even think about healthcare. Whenever we need a doctor, we just go and see them.
Me: It must be nice.

People die from no insurance all the time. We had a friend from my church die of diabetes in his early 30's because he did not want to saddle his family with an emergency room visit bill when his sugars got out of whack from his cheap insulin. By the time he went, he was in organ shutdown.

People vote against nationalized medicine, other people die.
