The country of Colombia is often misspelled by Americans. This is probably due to the name Columbia being used so often in the US. The country does not have the letter U in it's name. Conversely, every other instance of the name is spelled with a U, such as Columbia University, District of Columbia, or Columbia Sportswear. This confusion leads to many Colombians being frustrated with their home country being misspelled. There is even a campaign called "It's Colombia, not Columbia."
