As a programmer, or artist or photographer do you want to give your work for free?
Now, this question always comes in my mind that does beauty has any value in it. I have captured a stunning photo which I only have access to, will I give it for free. This is a subjective question, and I respect everyone's choice. Now appreciating beauty means creating something useful for someone, though it starts losing value over time because the effort required to achieve that starts dropping.

Let me give you an example, when Steem started it took years to become stable now anyone can fork it and use it and thus when Steem was created as a Blockchain it was a beauty but it's not anymore because now everyone knows this technology as thus anyone can work on it (anyone means who has little knowledge about how Blockchain works or who can code it). Similarly, think about music, now you can create any quality music of drums, piano or guitar chords without actually needing the instruments. Similarly, Photo, those photos which seem to be wow a few years back and only being clicked by the professionals, are no longer is beauty (it is just a reference because now everyone can click those wow photos) because now with some photoshop or editing skills you can create wonders. Even if you click an average photo, that can look wow if processed well.
This does not mean that I demeaning the actual work by some of the great photographers, I have huge respect for them and they should get paid for their work. I am only talking about some photo which everyone can have access to be clicked, whether to make it as free. Similarly, I have coded a component in React or Angular, should I sell it or should I commit it in Github so that everyone has access to it and everyone can benefit with it.
Just like Coders have Github where we can refer the code and use it whenever possible, people have access to free stock photos from various photographers across the world to get free beautiful images and they don't have to worry about licensing. Now these two things are totally different, but here we are talking about "Value in Beauty", beauty can be anything like beautiful music, beautiful component and beautiful photography. This is a subjective question and everyone has their say, but for me the value is not the beauty you create, the true value is the person who has created it. By showing your beautiful creations to the world, you are showing your true worth and thus one who is using it knows the what you have access to it.
Let's take an example, I have created a beautiful component and that is freely available on Github but that needs an update as per the user's requirement, I might get a call from the user or message saying that he will pay me to add the feature. Now think this might not have been possible if I have not given something for free right?

All the developers treat Github as their PR to show the world what they are capable of similarly photographers also use their Social media as a form of OR to show what they are capable of. The end goal is to show your true worth. Thus I feel there is no harm in giving something for free as the real value is not what you produced, the real value is actually you. But again it's just my thinking, now you want money for your hard work and that's understandable. The only problem now is we have so many freely available code or images people hardly pay for the value, they just take the work and are done.
So to put it in simple terms I think Beauty does not have a Value, it should be freely available, now beauty can be anything.
