The mystery shopping companies hire freelancers to do the job of the mystery shopping. Because they have 100s of location and they hire someone to do the job for every location. The shoppers usually have to go to the location, showcase themselves as a genuine customer and evaluate the product or service and after that they have to report their findings.
It is actually a very nice side income for people who have lot of free time mainly the students or the people who are staying away from home. I used to do Mystery Shopping when I first came to Bangalore because I didn't had anything to do on weekends, so I used to go and avail the services or buy the product which was usually reimburse by the company and then report the findings. I am not doing that now but it was fun to do. To evaluate, to find our any discrepancies, clicking photos and sending the report. I had usually done more than 100s of mystery shopping but stopped after Corona.
So if you want to become a mystery shipper you have to be little better in English as all the report you have to fill in English only. Next you have to be in the age like 18 to 45 for most of the shopping experience. There are tons of companies all over the world who does the mystery shopping, some are good whereas some are not so good. The good ones in India are Bare International, HS Brand, Shaw Hotels which are the ones which are really good and pays well in time. Others delay the payments as well as they are not so clear with their job description.
