You can stream a Linux desktop over a plain SSH connection. If your connection is internet connection is not fast enough for standard VNC or remote desktop, you could try texttop .
The quality is not the best, but it works. (If you have a bad internet connection, this may work for you). The program is named texttop and it works over a terminal.
