Hi fellow Walkers,
Today I'm here with a much appreciated Beach Walk!
We had a really nice batch of weather here recently, where we had some fantastic weather in the 50's and even touched 60 for a little bit! That's phenomenal in the wintertime around here let me tell you lol. We immediately knew that we wanted to hit the beach when we saw what we would be enjoying weather wise! The beach is definitely my wife's happy place and where she enjoys life the most so I knew with the winter blues that she's been having, not getting enough sunlight and all that, a beach day was right up her alley. Off we went!
The little man is also one of the beach lovers and he's always interested in seeing what things we can uncover when we are there. This one was one of the latest times of the year that we've been to the beach so we didn't know if there was going to be anything living amongst the rocks. I didn't want to burst his bubble though, as he loves going exploring in the rocks not only for sea life but for other treasures as well, so it's a complete win on many fronts for me!
We even packed the right gear for the day! He's got this hilarious and awesome shark hooded sweat shirt, with a shark fin at the top. It was a gift from a good friend of ours and we love it lol he wore that thing with pride! He was having fun exploring among the rocks, flipping things over but also trying to be careful not to get his gloves wet. It was a little bit colder at this beach than we wanted it to be, but it was still manageable and we had a really good time. We found some pretty great sea shells and some rocks that we kept so we are going to add it to the pile of stuff that we've got going on outside our door where we live. I don't mind letting him indulge himself in these easy things, they don't cost me anything besides time and gas lol.
The beach had a heck of a lot of rocks! We don't normally go to this beach because the parking lot isn't the biggest and it's usually fucking packed of people so we stay away from it, opting for something a bit less crowded and enjoy that a lot. The rocks at this one are pretty cool though! They've got so many different colors and shapes to them. I don't know if they are all natural rocks to the area or if the town brought a bunch of rocks in and dumped them in there years ago to add some textures and stuff. The giant boulder formations on the right I think are natural to the area though, so that's good. Those had some pretty unique looks to them as well!
Day two at the beach though was where it was at! It was a lot sunnier this day and a lot more enjoyable. We did a lot of things, built sand castles, picked up trash on the beach which will be an upcoming post, and just hung out on the sand and soaked up the suns rays and appreciated the nice bit of extra Vitamin D, which people in this area desperately need! Lol. There's a lot of moodiness with the people who live here and I think that's from a lack of sun exposure in my opinion!
There were quite a few people on the beach with us which was great! I know that many of us die-hard beach fans will go whenever we see a good glimpse in the weather and this day was no joke. We've had a pretty great winter overall, I'm not going to lie or complain about that. We've had some great weather and had some really good breaks in the bitter cold temperatures but I don't know if this is the calm before the storm or what lol. Last year we had a two week span of temperatures in the single digits and in the teens! It was intense but the good thing about that was it froze all the lakes and some of the rivers around so it gave people a chance to do the frozen activities like skating and other things.
We absolutely appreciated and enjoyed being at the beach on this nice, warm and random winter day. We missed the smell of the ocean and the sand for sure and the clean air that comes with it. We definitely had a sorely needed therapy day and it was great to let the little man run wild and do what he wanted, which is exactly how I want him to have days during any week that we have. Childhood only lasts so long sadly!
