Hi fellow history buffs,
Back with another great find in my home state. We signed up for this Christmas themed holiday event in North Andover Massachusetts at the Stevens estate. We’ve driven past it before but never really paid much attention to it. We were amazed at how beautiful the place is!
It was built in the late 1800’s by a textile manufacturer Moses Stevens. It’s got that beautiful historic charm and the grounds are still lived on today, though by a caretaker in one of the adjacent buildings. It’s typically rented out for weddings and parties but during the Christmas season they open it to the public for 3 days. It was well worth the trip! I didn’t take a lot of pictures but I did capture some great ones of the various beauties of architecture that it’s got. source
This was just a stock photo found online when you image search the Stevens estate, also known as Osgood hill. I wanted to include one so you could see how big the main house was!
The house had lots of really nice Christmas trees all over the place.
It had lots of little sitting areas for you to enjoy, complete with tables and nooks.
One thing that impressed me was the sheer amount of curved glass windows it had. I lived in a historic building before and if it’s got curved glass windows, you know they had some serious money! Those things weren’t cheap back in the 1800’s!
I’m thinking that when Boston university acquired the property in the 1950’s they added these but this was pretty cool to see them put the Steem pipes into the trim boards besides the windows to hide them.
Really liked the claw foot tub! They had several of these in the numerous bathrooms. The third floor was closed to the public, I can only imagine the stuff up there!

The bedrooms were a pretty big size, I went into three of them.
Another bedroom, this one was certainly the biggest! Had an incredible bathroom that I didn’t get to take photos of unfortunately. I wasn’t the only one exploring the rooms.
Table in the upstairs hallway. Pretty large hall to fit such a table! Really liked the detailed wood paneling, it was everywhere.
Some of the fancier stuff, they had cool gadgets all over the house.
Loved the antique phones in the bedrooms and in the main rooms downstairs. Didn’t have the ear pieces on them but they were awesome!
The house also had this wicked cool intercom system it looks like! I absolutely loved this, first time seeing this in one of these places. This guy was a techie for sure.

There was also some pretty sweet art in some of the rooms. The stairs had the coolest, biggest painting I’ve seen in a home!
Not sure who the artist is but here’s their name. I looked him up and he’s a fairly famous painter from Massachusetts so that was cool!
It was an overall incredible experience! We are definitely going to check this place out in the spring when it’s not so cold so we can explore the grounds, there’s several hiking trails and other buildings that you can look at. Hope you enjoyed the images I took, though most were with my phone instead of our nice camera.
