I think the nature of the mother versus the father with these things comes into play when we are more present with the kiddos. The mothers do the protecting and nurturing, and the fathers are bending and breaking the norms to get the kid exposed to the world. I know that is certainly the dynamic with my son! That aspect reminds me of one of my favorite quotes "for things to remain the same, everything must change". For the things that we feel we need to do to give the kids a meaningful upbringing, we need to change how we do it even in small ways.
My son is at the age where he gets "grossed out" when people kiss in a show or movie. It's funny, but very noticeable shift!
