Damn, Dean Koontz?! He is likely my FAVORITE author. Hope he still writes, because it's sadly been almost 10 years since I could read some of his stuff!
Have you dug into his Frankenstein version? I think it is by far one of my favorite! He writes so well, it's awesome. His other series about the kid with the circus, where he sees death before it happens, and the kid falls in love with one of the carny girls was another favorite of mine!
I think he is a far better writer and storyteller than Stephen King, personally!
I know what you mean with physical books versus audio. For me, unfortunately I don't have the ability to sit down and read much given the busy work schedule and kiddo. Podcasts are the way to go for me, where I can pop it on while I am prepping food, cleaning the living room etc. I actually pause what I am listening to while I vacuum so that I don't miss anything lol.
My favorite by far because you get to ZONE out is folding laundry while listening to a podcast or audio book! You don't have to think about jack shit while folding so you can tune right into the content.
