Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I join the ranks of many awesome people and have crossed 4 years on the blockchain here!
Oops I missed my Birthday!
I join the likes of some pretty awesome people like Riverflows, Artemislives, Apshamilton, Sagesigma and lots of others that I can't remember from back in the day, in celebrating my fourth year here on the blockchain! I'm now moving closer to an adolescent than a toddler :D
I remember it pretty well, signing up for the Hive blockchain by it's former name and having to wait about 2 weeks to get an account. Those were the days, huh? I know lots of people were in the same boat. Thankfully we've progressed and made account creation a heck of a lot easier! So easy that if you ask someone with a few thousand Hive Power they can whip up an account for you just by using their resource credits. Awesome shit!
I've got several screenshots of the magic internet money that I was thinking I was making at the time. I had not a clue in the world what everything meant when I started lol a few days after it was created, I had a whopping 0.1 HP! Sadly nowadays that's not enough for a long comment with the implementation of resource credits but the benefit of that is a considerable reduction in spam.
It's funny that the first thing I did on the platform was just get out there and comment on so much shit! I didn't write a post for I think 4 or 5 weeks, maybe more. Now I've posted daily for a year and a half almost. Times change lol The only earnings I was getting was from someone being nice and giving my comment a vote that was over dust.
I don't remember which account this was but I took this screenshot and sent it to a bunch of my friends! I was trying to get them onto the platform to learn and earn like I was. I bet this was probably Haejin or someone with wild amounts of power but the thought of having hundreds of thousands of dollars in internet money was unreal to me!
As time went on and I got better at the platform I started to earn decent amounts of Hive Power, enough that I finally crossed double digits and was nearing triple digits! This was in September, 6 months after I joined. Some people are hitting these milestones nowadays after 3 or 4 weeks which is amazing!
I think Hive has definitely been one of the best things that's happened to me for many reasons. It's opened me up to so many things, as it does everyone else on here. But the great and important thing about it as well as it's exposed me to so many people throughout the world that I wouldn't have otherwise been able to connect with!
We all have such an amazing opportunity to do whatever we want here. If we want to dedicate all our time to investing, talking about investing and learning investing we have opportunities abound in places like Leo Finance which is a massive and thriving community.
The other great avenues to explore like Splinterlands and the gaming side add an interesting layer to it all as well, and one that I think wouldn't ever have been combined with an environment like Leo Finance. However with the connection string of Hive as the underlying chain and the social media aspect of the chain, it really opens up incredible opportunities for groups to communicate with each other!
We, like any platform, have our issues for sure. I'm not going to say we are perfect but I think we have a pretty awesome thing going and one that has great potential to change peoples lives in the future. It has certainly changed my life and many others but the more we grow and dedicate ourselves and our time to a place like this, the better off we will be long term!
Future?
What do you think this place will look like in another four years?! I don't even know what to think on that one, honestly lol. Will Splinterlands have a VR headset game? Probably!
