Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I'm back with a few pictures from a recent trip we took to see some autumn colors!
Monochrome Monday Autumn River
The autumn in New England is one that's shown via pictures around the world. There are beautiful scenes everywhere to be had, if you can time it right. We ventured out this past weekend to see if we could catch the colors at the right time and we did get to see some, but not as many as we'd like. It was a little bit of a fail but it was a multipurpose trip so overall it was a good time!
One of the things that the little man really enjoys is getting to see any kinds of body of water. That body of water can be a tiny creek a few inches wide, or a giant lake. In this case, we got to see a few decent sized lakes and ended up spending time fishing in one of the rivers that flows out of the lake.
The river had some pretty cool stuff on it, as it had a dam and some old equipment strewn around the place quite a bit. It was cool to get to explore it because we normally wouldn't have been to this area!
This was actually my first time to the area. We went to Lake Winnepusaukee in New Hampshire. If you've seen the Adam Sandler movie "Grown Ups" you are looking at that lake! It's likely one of the most famous and popular lakes in New England because it's smack dab in the middle of it! It's in central New Hampshire and pretty damn big, so big that it's got hundreds of little coves and thousands of multi million dollar homes dotting the entire circumference of it.
At one of the ends of the lake, like anywhere really, there is a bunch of trash and graffiti lol but that doesn't hide the beauty of the waterfall. Funny enough, I was looking to take a picture like this but my wife figured it out while the little man and I were fishing! Lol. She's a super star!
The top view of the dam is all I got to see when we were there. We got up there and the little man instantly climbed up on the railing, saw the river and demanded that we go down to the waters edge so we can try to fish. I didn't mind it as it ended up being a fair bit of fun but I was interested in getting to see more of the dam! If we end up going back next year, we will likely check out this area a bit more. The drive for us is a few hours so it's not worth going up unless we are staying the night. We just did the day trip and it was enjoyable but it was a lot of driving to do in one day lol.
Seeing the foliage and leaves falling all around us was bittersweet. We had some pretty good views of it all but we weren't looking forward to when the temperatures dip down and start to freeze everything sadly.
