Hi fellow Lions,
With the increase in rewards, I wanted to set myself an additional goal: HBD Savings
With the increase in prices of Hive related items such as the token, that comes with something many of us are looking forward to but aren't completely ready for: reduced numerical rewards.
I know that Edicted will definitely say that it's all numbers bias and he is certainly true in that regards. It's good to see our token price go up but when we were used to getting 15-20 HP per post in rewards for stuff that's decent, not exceptional content, sometimes I get a little bit of nostalgia for the days where we could earn a lot more of the Hive token per post. Foolish for sure, but it will take some time to get over that minute detail.
With that I have come up with an additional goal: 500 HBD in savings! I've set Hive Power goals the past 2 years and that's been great to see myself hitting them. It gives some validity of sorts, to the things I am doing for the hopeful benefit of our financial future.
One of those additional avenues that I'm now starting to look into setting up is a goal for my HBD in savings!
If you go to a bank in any part of the world, where will they give you 10% interest on the collateral you deposit in there? I might be waiting a while!
I wanted to try and take advantage of the great opportunity the witnesses have introduced in one of the recent updates: Hive Savings accounts. I guess I read Edicted's posts a lot because this is another one he was shouting from the rooftops that we should be utilizing. It finally happened and it's an excellent incentive, in my opinion, to keep the price of HBD relatively stable.
When posts pay out part of their rewards in liquid HBD, that then internally can get converted to liquid Hive or you can go on the internal DEX market and buy someone's liquid Hive they are selling in exchange for your HBD. That obviously means that the HBD peg at $1.00 gets a fair amount of strain on it, as we saw for a long time with it being well below $0.90 for most of last year if I can remember correctly. With the introduction of some measures, one of them being HBD savings, I think that the token has been able to regain some ground and stay closer to the $1.00 peg, although it hasn't been perfect by any means, it has been a nice incentive to try and keep some, or all, HBD in our savings account.
My savings goal for 2021 is to end the year by having at least 500 HBD in my savings account! I have a little more than 2 months to achieve that and thankfully I will be able to hit my Hive Power goal of 17k with the Hive I've accumulated from selling Splinterlands assets but my optimistic goal of 20k Hive Power would be fantastic to hit! Couple that with an HBD goal of 500 and I would be off to a fantastic start to 2022, and the financial future.
Scary to think of looking to 2022, I can tell you that lol
