Today I'm here with an awesome trip we took to a local waterfall!
Frozen Waterfall Discovery
Recently the little man and I took a trip out to do a few things and one of the things I knew I wanted to get going when we were out there is checking out a new place with our snow shoes! We went hiking recently and one of the hardest parts of the hike was that it was so slippery wherever we went we were falling left and right. Snow shoes really solved that issue for us! A lot less hits to the little mans pride that's for sure lol
The place we were hiking was beautiful! It was nested in between some pretty cool hills so it had ample terrain to offer us. What I wasn't expecting at all was this gorgeous waterfall! Damn this thing was insanely beautiful! I wanted to sit and hang out at it for a while that's for sure lol. The sound of the waterfall as it was coming over the rocks but muffled by the massive amount of ice was actually really awesome. I don't think I've heard a truly frozen waterfall before! I've only seen small brooks or something as they go. This was a considerable waterfall and it was a strong river that's for sure!
There were spots that made me a little nervous lol I didn't know what was ice and treacherous to stand on or what was rock and I could safely stand there. People had walked out onto this but I didn't know what it was so I wasn't going out there that's for sure! Got a cool perspective downstream though.
I am really happy that I finally got to the place! We had driven around for like 20 minutes trying to figure out where the heck the place was. I was pretty close to giving up but I looked one last time at an app that others have used to help them get to hiking trails and it worked!
What was cool was the top of the waterfall was also an awesome sight! I know sometimes the waterfall front is all you get and you can't do much to the other parts of the falls. Not here! The back was beautiful as well and offered it's own incredible ice formations. I also didn't realize that it would be this deep, many falls are just one and that's it. This one was two separate and substantial falls!
Each of the little nooks on the falls had something really cool to look at. There were people who were brave (or dumb lol) enough to get on top of the rocks there to stand ontop of the falls! I wasn't about to do that, that's for sure. It seemed like a hell of a foolish thing to try so I opted out of doing that.
I know sometimes it's hard to live in the moment with this type of stuff but we spent a few hours out in this hiking trail area with the beauty it offered. I'm hoping that the pictures I've taken give it justice for how beautiful it was! I know we will certainly be back in the spring, though I hear in the summertime it's almost impossible to get a parking spot here!
