Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today we had an excellent surprise bit of weather, good enough for a beach day!

Surprising Warmth

One of the most exciting things about living in New England is most definitely a beautiful warm day in the middle of or the end of winter. It really perks you up, getting a decent amount of vitamin D and having fun playing outside.

We definitely needed the extra boost! As time goes on and our son gets older his energy levels seem to get higher and higher somehow lol. This year is most likely the year that we will be selling our small condo and moving to somewhere bigger, hopefully a lot warmer. In the meantime, we were able to enjoy a gorgeous bit of weather today! The temperature got all the way up to 70! That may seem cold for you southern folks but for us, holy shit bust out the shorts and flip flops, we are going to the beach!

One thing we didn't get much of were crabs. Turns out they don't like the water when it's below 50 degrees. Can't blame them, really lol. The water was a nipply 38 degrees today. The insane part is there were kids playing in the damn ocean, legit in there swimming. I couldn't even imagine how cold they were and the mom didn't even have towels for them. Pneumonia nearly guaranteed!

Still made for some nice scenery! The tide was going out when we were there so it was perfect timing, lots of sand to play on and run around on. The sea gulls weren't as aggressive as they normally are, probably because their foods not around. The little man and I still had fun looking for stuff and picking up rocks. There's something fun about just picking up rocks, knowing that there isn't anything under there but still doing it any ways. I did find one of the coolest sea shells! That will be in the next post for sure!

One thing I love to do is just play in the sand. Build shit. Today we built this really cool ramp that I surprised the little man with. We had a dump truck in the car that he could play with on the sand so I knew he was going to have fun with it. I built the ramp and then showed him what I was thinking it was for and he loved it and played with it for a good 15 minutes, launching the car off it. Thankfully he didn't hit anyone with the car lol got a little close to a dog!

What sand structure is acceptable without a bit of a sand castle wall? We didn't have a lot of time to make a proper sand castle so I just decided to make a decent wall. High tide is coming in about now so it's probably gone but it was still a lot of fun. Sand castles are some of my favorite things to build, you can get complicated and all that and then the ocean takes it all back away. I have fun trying to beat the ocean getting it set up!

Days like these are what us New Englanders need for a nice recharge between the grind of expensive living. Spending a day at the beach with family, beautiful weather and lots of fun and laughs. Not much better you can get than that!
