We joined the river to river trail at the garden of the gods, and will be following it through the most part og Illinois to the grand tower.

The garden of the gods is beautiful and I got some great pictures there.

Its very dry here and its in the middle of a bad drought. All of the creeks and streams are dried up. This makes water to drink on the trail difficult to find sometimes.

And very few stores along the way through the Shawnee national forest. That makes it hard to resupply food and etc.

There are a lot of ranches to camp at along the way. You can fill up water bottles but I haven't found any of them to sell food or any other hiking supplies. 20190929_160048.jpg

The river to river trail is shared with horse riders and hikers. It is a much more traveled than I would have expected.

The view along the way is great and the trail is nice path too. Its a little rocky at times but I have seen much more narly trail before.

This is just past the garden of the gods where the American Discovery Trail and the river to river trail join together.
