Personally feel,
Climbing a ladder is like a choice of life.
Life is like a play / a game!
You have to give up all for now's life ,
to seize the future.
But, the future is not necessarily upward,
It also may be horizontal or even downward,
That is because the possibility of 2/3 is not good than now,
So ,many people will be comfortable with the status quo.
