Chapter 3
Jordan called Madison told her she would get a hold of her soon as she was done at the doctor’s office. Jordan, Sam and her mom were at the doctors. After the blood work came back, they were called into the doctor’s office. Jordan was nervous and her gut is telling her something is wrong. Mom was reading a magazine, she seemed calm and cool. Then the doctor came in.
“Sorry for the wait, I wanted to get the test results back before I came in .” Said the doctor. Then he said, “well you are anaemic we can help you with that with iron pills. But I have some concerns. You have higher than normal levels that indicate cancer.” He continued, “Don’t start panicking, it could be indicating a number of things. I want to do a CAT scan of the brain down to the ovaries. I’d like to set it up tomorrow if that’s okay.”
“That’s good for us, is it mom?” Asked Jordan.” Sure, that’s fine.” Answered her mother.
“I’ll call and set it up, okay? The office will call soon as we know.” Said the doctor.
“Thank you, Dr. for seeing her so soon,” said Jordan and Sam.
“There’s a script for the iron pills and you’re welcome, Jordan. Also, your weight is a little low so, I want you to get some ensure, okay?” Said the doctor. “I wish you the best and if need be, will do our best.” The doctor stood up, shook both their hands. “As soon as I hear anything I will call.”
Jordan and her mom left doctor’s office. There was silence for a while, they both were in shock. Jordan was terrified and she knew her mother was too. She didn’t know what to say.
“Do you want to go with me to get the iron pills and ensure or do you want me dropped you off at my house or yours if you’d rather?” Asked Jordan.
“I’ll wait at your house, okay? Asked her mom. “That’s fine mom.” Said Jordan. Jordan dropped her off at her house and went to the pharmacy and the store. When she got back, her mother had fixed herself a Bloody Mary.
“I think I’ll have one of those too how about you Sam?” Asked Jordan. So, she made her one. Plus, she got a glass of water and an iron pill. She took all of it out to the fire pit where her mom was. Her mother swallowed the pill. She set the class of water down. Then the doctor’s office called, “yes, this is Susan Harris speaking. Yes, okay thank you. Bye.” Said her mom. “We have to be there by eight in the morning nothing to eat or drink after midnight.”
“Okay, everything is going to be alright mom.” Said Jordan.
“I know everything always turns out okay.” Said her mom.
They both just sat there staring at the ocean and the waves coming in. Jordan asked if she be okay if she went talk to Sam
“Yes, I’ll be fine.” Answered her mother. Jordan took her drink, hugged her mom and went to talk to Sam.
“I’m going to stop by the store get stuff for omelettes, how does that sound?” Asked Sam.
“That sounds great!” Said Jordan. She thought to herself, brunch it is!
“After this, I need to run back to work. Trying to get all the city Council members names in Coos Bay. I’ll tell you more later, okay love!” Said Sam.
“Okay, I’ll see you soon.” Answered Jordan. After she ended the call, she went back out with her mother asked if she wanted another Bloody Mary?” Asked Jordan.
“Yes, I sure do!” Answered her mom.
“Mom, Sam bringing stuff to make omelettes. How does that sound? Asked Jordan.
“I don’t have much of an appetite, but I will try; okay? Said her mom.
“Mom it is probably nothing to worry about,” Jordan said.
“I’m going to make your blood Mary and I’ll have one too.” Jordan answered the phone on the first ring it was Sam again, “listen I traded with someone because I’m going with you in the morning, is that okay? Asked Sam.
“You didn’t have to do that, but I’m glad for you to be there. I dreaded this as long as I can remember.
“You almost done shopping?” Asked Jordan.
Sam said, “I’m on my way to your house now.”
“Well, I have to finish making my mom another drink. So, I’ll see you soon. Said Jordan.
Jordan heard someone drive up, she looked out and saw Sam’s car. Which is almost out of commission, she can get her a wedding gift. Should think about it.
As she was coming in with the groceries, Jordan asked, “do you need any help?”
“No, this is everything thanks love,” Sam said softly. Then she said, “ Okay, everybody out of my kitchen.”
“You realize it’s just me and mom. The guys have not been here all morning because they are finalizing the house deal.” Said Jordan.
Sam went to work on the omelettes. Jordan joined her mother outside with a new bloody Mary. Her mother was still half full so, she is fine.
Jordan looked at her mother. Then she asked, “how are you doing right now?”
“As well as expected I guess.” Her mom said.
“Try not to think of the worry about the worst scenario, okay?” Jordan told her.
They both sipped on their drinks. Her mother looked at her and said, “you’ve got a good one there, she is special just like you. I think you found your soulmate.”
“I do believe in soulmates, but I never understood what it really meant, until now.” Answered Jordan.
Sam came strutting out the plates. “Two ladies ready-to-eat, I hope. I would stay and eat, but I have to go love, but only be gone a couple of hours at most.” Sam said. Then she hugged my mother and whispered in her ear, that everything’s to be all right don’t worry. Then she came over to me, took my hand, had me stand up twirl me around and grabbed me around the waist, pull me to her and laid a long hypnotizing kiss on me. Then she whispered in my ear, “don’t worry love! I’ll be here for you, your mother will be okay. You are my love, my life, my everything.”
Then she left leaving both my mom and me mesmerized. When I sat down I notice mom eating and I asked, “how is it?”
“Excellent, and I’m famished. I think I’m going to eat the whole thing!” Said her mom. So I sat down and started eating on mine. Jordan thought this is excellent. Finished, nothing left on the plates, “damn that was good!” Said Jordan. Her mother agreed.
“Mom, would you like another Bloody Mary?” Asked Jordan. Her mom said, “ Yeah, why not one more!”
“I do believe I will have one more too,” Jordan said.
So she made two more and brought them both outside. Her mother asked Jordan for a walk on the beach. Then she said,” we can bring the dogs and their drinks.”
“Sure, why not!” Answered Jordan. She added, “I’ll get the dogs.” And they were off on their walk. It was about an hour long walk they felt so refreshed. They washed the dogs’ feet and let them in the house. “Mom, why don’t you go lay down for a little while and take an Ensure with you and drink it please!”
Her Mother said, “I feel old drinking that drink!”
Jordan replied, “they give it to kids, adults and senior citizens. It just boosts your system.”
“Okay, if it helps me I will drink it.” Answered her mother. Then she took the ensure and a glass of ice water and lay down the couch. Jordan got fleece blanket laid it over her gave her a kiss on the cheek and forehead.
Jordan picked up all the dishes from outside and washed them in the dishwasher. Then she grabbed her glass of ice water and went to her room and stretched out on the bed.
She woke to champ and Nikita nudging her on the face and arm. They were telling her that they needed out. She grabbed her cell phone and ran with the dogs to the backyard. She looked at her cell phone it said 5 30. Then she called Sam went outside and sat down.
It rang once and Sam picked up, “hey love! How are you and your mother doing?”
“We both slept and mom still sleeping which is good for her right now.” She added, “you off work now?”
“Yes, love, what do you need from me?” Asked Sam.
“Would you mind sleeping in my mother’s spare room with me so she could rest better in her own bed?”
“I don’t care where I sleep as long as I am with you.”
“You are so wonderful and by the way, those omelettes were excellent, we cleaned our plates.” She added, “you are getting a special treat tonight.”
“Oh boy! I can’t wait. I am already getting wet! I’ll grab a bag of clothes be right over.” Then she hung up.
Jordan started getting her bag together. Then she slowly woke her mother up. She’s been known to slap if she wakes up to fast.
Jordan got her to sit up. She told her what they are going to do. She said okay. They are waiting for Sam. Jared and Levi showed up said it’s officially they got the house. Jordan and her mom congratulated them. Then Sam showed up and was told the news.
“Congratulations new beachfront homeowner!” She looked at it Jordan and her mom and asked, “You guys ready to go?”
“Where are you guys going?” Asked Jared.
“We are going to stay at mom’s house tonight. She’s got a CT scan tomorrow.” She added, “but it’s awesome that you guys are going to be here more!” That she gave them a big hug.
Jordan added, “you guys enjoy yourself, we will see you tomorrow.”
Sam said, “I’ll grab the bags, while you get your mom.”
Jordan said, “thanks Sam.”
They got in Jordan’s Jeep. When they got to her mother’s house they got her mom and their bags in. Her mother wanted a glass of wine so Jordan got her one. Jordan and Sam got a glass too. They sat in the living room for a while just talking.
“I think it’s going to be nothing serious” answered her mom. Jordan replied the same. Sam said, “let’s hope so!”
It had been a long day, for all three of them so they decided to go to sleep. They finished their wine and then went to their rooms. Jordan told her mom she loved her to see her in the morning. Her mom replied the same. Sam said goodnight and her mom replied the same.
Sam and Jordan got in their pyjamas. Jordan thought never seen Sam in pyjamas. It was a tank top and Snoopy shorts. Jordan replied, “those are so cute!” She chuckled.
Sam answered, “this happens to be my favorite!” She smiled. Jordan had on an Oregon shirt and green boxer shorts.
Jordan said, “these are my favorite too!” Then they climbed into bed. Sam said, “at least we don’t fight over which side the bed to sleep on.”
Jordan agreed and laughed. Sam was glad she laughed because she knows how worried she is.
They crawled up in each other’s arms. It didn’t take long for them to fall asleep. They awoke the next morning to Jordan’s alarm she had set it for 7 o’clock. Her mother was already up and dressed. She said she had woke up about 6 o’clock.
Sam jumped in the shower, while Jordan sipped on some coffee and chatted with her mom.
Jordan asked her mom, “not worried, are you mom?”
Her mom answered, “not at all, I’m sure it’s nothing!”
Sam came out of the bedroom and was dressed in T-shirt, blue jeans and she had her favorite jacket.
Jordan went and jumped in the shower this time Sam sipped on her coffee and said, “this is really good coffee!”
“I buy the Starbucks brand.” Said Jordan’s mom
Jordan’s mom couldn’t have anything this morning, but she liked the aroma. It didn’t take Jordan long to get dressed she was also wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans and her favorite jacket.
Jordan looked at the clock it was about 8 o’clock and thought they should get there early. Her mom already had the paperwork filled out that they gave her at the clinic. So, they checked in sat down and waited. She was actually called back early so, that was good.
Jordan grabbed her mom and hugged her, gave her a kiss on the cheek and said, “it is going to be all right!” She watched her mom go through the doors and sat down again. She grabbed Sam’s arm laid her head on her shoulder. Sam kissed the top of her head and put her hand on Jordan’s hand.
Sam said, “it’s going to be all right!”
Jordan answered, “I know it will be.”
When she was finished, they went to the B&B and have breakfast. Her mom’s phone rang and it was the doctor she said. She had a happy look on her face said thank you very much Dr.
Her mom said, “it was a false alarm, but he wanted me to stay on the iron pills and ensure and come back next month and he’ll do another blood sample for my anaemia.”
“I’m so happy for you mom!” Said Jordan. Sam said the same thing and she asked if they were ready to go because she needed to go to work. Both Jordan and her mother said they were ready. And Sam dropped them off at home with Jordan’s bag. Sam said congratulations one more time and gave Jordan a kiss.
“I’ll see you later honey.” Said Jordan.
“See you later love.” Answered Sam and she was gone. When they got inside, Jordan dropped her bag and just hugged her mom.
“I’m so happy!” Said Jordan.
“You and me both!” Said her mom. Then Jordan asked, “you feel up to company tonight?” Her mom answered, “sure why not!” Then Jordan said, “I think I’ll ask everybody over and have a dinner and your favorite drink.” “What would you like to eat and drink?” She asked.
“Barbecued chicken, corn on the cob and baked potato and margaritas sound good to me.” She added, “how does that sound?” She asked Jordan.
“Sounds good to me. I am going shopping. Do you want me to drop you off at home take champ Nikita with you?” Asked Jordan. ”Besides, it’s a beautiful day to take a walk.” Jordan said. Her mother said yes and she agreed with Jordan. So, Jordan dropped her mom off and the dogs.
Jordan replied, “don’t forget to take your iron pill and drink your ensure.” Her mom said she would. “If you haven’t taken a walk, by the time, I get back. I’ll take one with you.” Said Jordan
“Okay, that sounds great. I’ll wait for you.” Answered her mom. Then Jordan left. After she did the shopping and put everything away. She called her mom and asked her if she was ready for a walk. Mom says, “Sure! Come on over.” Jordan took some bones to give the dogs after their walk.
It was a wonderful day sun was shining, clear sky and just a little bit brisk. They both wore sweats it seems like it’s all they wear lately. After their walk, they fed and watered the dogs. After they were finished, she gave the dogs the bones.
“You okay if I go for a while and do some work?” Asked Jordan.
“No, I’m totally okay and very happy right now!” Answered her mom. Jordan gave her mom another hug and told her how much she loved her and her mom said the same. She said she’d see her later.
She got a hold of Madison, asked her if she would come over? Madison said,”Sure, be right over.” So Jordan waited on Madison before she got started with her work. Madison got there about 15 minutes later.
“Hi Madison, you ready to work?” Asked Jordan.
“Sure, I am!” Said Madison.
They went over to the gallery and Jordan asked,” you know much about computers?” “I sure do!” Answered Madison.
“Well, I want to make a website for the gallery. Do you think you could come up with something? Asked Jordan.
“Sure, I can come up with something.” Answered Madison with a smile on her face. It showed the dimple on her right cheek. She had her brown straight hair back in a ponytail and could see Robin’s clothes fit her.
Jordan showed Madison where the money bag was so if she got any customers and put her to work on the computer. Gave her, her cell phone number and asked her to call her when she got done. Then she turned open sign on.
Jordan went home started working in her studio. She needed to feel the places that were empty and the gallery and at the B&B. That reminded her, she needed to call Robin about tonight and asked her if she could call everybody else. She did not know where Levi and Jared was, but she was sure they’d be there this evening. She thought she would work for a couple of hours at least till five or so. And then see if Robin wanted to come over to help her with the meal.
“Hey Robin, would you call everybody and asked them if they wanted to come for dinner tonight?” Asked Jordan. Robin replied, “sure, what are we having?” “Barbecued chicken, corn on the cob and baked potato with margaritas.” Answered Jordan. “Sounds great!” Replied Robin. “Okay, then how about 4 0’clock come over, does that work for you? Asked Jordan.
“Yes, that sounds fine, see you then. How did things go with your mom?” Asked Robin.
“We’re celebrating no cancer!” Said Jordan happily.
“That’s great Jordan, so relieved.” Answered Robin. Then she added, “see you at 4 o’clock!”
After she worked couple hours and found a stopping point decided to go over and see Madison who was still working on the website but showed her what she had so far. “That looks great Madison! Say would you and Allison like to come over for dinner and margaritas tonight?” Asked Jordan.
“Sure, what time?” Asked Madison. “7 o’clock sound good?” Asked Jordan. “That sounds good for us, thanks!” Answered Madison.
“Any customers?” Asked Jordan. “Sure was two people bought a painting!” “That’s awesome!” Said Jordan. She looked around and then asked Madison which one and Madison answered, “the one that was on the big wall.” Jordan thought to herself, nice one of my favorites. “That reminds me, we need to talk salary.” Said Jordan. She added, “how does $1000 a month to start off with sound?” “That’s great! Thank you!” Answered Madison. “You welcome! That’s what Allison is to get to so, you both can save some money.” Answered Jordan.
“Now, I want you to go to the bank about 430 every day if there are any sales okay? Asked Jordan.
“Okay, I can do that.” Answered Madison.
“Sam and I are going to Coos Bay tomorrow earlier than everybody else to talk to Allison’s dad and each you were going to stay here where it’s safe. Okay? Asked Jordan.
“Okay” answered Madison.
“Here are the keys and the alarm code.” Said Jordan. She added, “now I am going to call you every day and see how things are going and one more thing, could you and Allison take care of the dogs while we are away?” Asked Jordan.
“That would be fine can we take them on walks?” Asked Madison.
“Sure, you can, especially just make sure to lock up. The keys to the house are the keys to the gallery!” Answered Jordan. She added, “you can go now, be back for dinner at 7 o’clock.”
“I’ll call Robin and tell her to let Allison know what’s up and here’s your first check open the savings account or checking whatever you prefer okay not go on to the bank deposit this sale. Salaries are usually the first of the month so that’s how it will be from now on okay” Said Jordan.
“Thank you so much!” Said Madison.
“Sure, now get going before the bank closes at five, okay,” said Jordan.
And Madison left and Jordan called Sam. “Hi honey, how’s your day been?” Asked Jordan.
“Hi love, it’s been good and yours?” Asked Sam.
“Good too.” Answered Jordan. She added, “I went over things with Madison today. Said Jordan. She added,” got a chance to work in the studio for a while today.”
“Well, that’s good!” Said Sam. She added, “hey, you want to sleep over my place tonight?”
“You bet! Been thinking about you all day!” Said Jordan.
“So have I!” Answered Sam.
“You up for some barbecue chicken, corn on the cob and baked potato here tonight with margaritas?” Asked Jordan.
“Sure would! Sounds great I’m starving!” Answered Sam. She added,” I’m off now, do you mind if I come over?” Asked Sam.
“Sooner the better, see you soon!” Said Jordan. They hung up and Jordan got started making some margaritas for her and Sam and Robin be here soon. Sam got there and Jordan poured her a Margarita and of course her one too. She let Sam take a drink and set it down. Then she dragged Sam into the bedroom started passionately kissing her and fondling her.
“Well, I guess you did miss me!” Said Sam as she kissed back and fondled too. Then Jordan heard Robin saying hello and said, “be right there!” Then they came out of the room and said, “ Hi Robin!”
“I see you guys need a little more privacy I can go and come back?” Said Robin.
“No, no we’re fine!” Said Sam blushing.
“Yeah, we’re fine!” Said Jordan blushing also. She added, “ready for a margarita?”
“You bet!” Answered Robin. They all went out and sat in front seat in the beach chairs and enjoy the margaritas.
“Hasn’t been such a wonderful day!” Asked Robin.
“Sure has been, mom and I went for walk on the beach earlier today with the dogs who played with this seagull that was teasing them.” Said Jordan.
They sat there for a while not saying a word just listening to the waves and the seagulls and Robin spoke, “I’m so glad to hear about your mom!”
“So am I!” Said Jordan.
“Yeah, I didn’t want to say this morning you cried last night in your sleep.” Said Sam.
“Did I?” Asked Jordan. She added, “I guess it was stress. I don’t remember the dream.”
“You used to do that a lot when you were younger remember?” Said Robin.
“Yeah, I guess I did, woke myself up couple times talking.” Said Jordan.
They drank their margaritas, thought it was time to get dinner ready to go on the grill. Jordan thought they would put the corn on the cob on the grill with the chicken bake potatoes in the oven wrapped in foil. With all those baked potatoes they were going to need time to cook so they decided to put them in now. Jordan had got thighs and breast. Put them in two mixing bowl doused them with barbecue sauce and wrapped the corn on the cob in foil too. They all agreed an hour and a half on the potatoes would do and put them on warm.
“Oh, I invited Madison and Allison over for dinner and margaritas too.”Said Jordan.
“That was nice of you!” Said Robin.
“Yeah, that was really nice!” Said Sam.
“How is Allison working out?” Asked Jordan.
“Oh, she’s working out great!” Answered Robin.
“Yeah Madison is working out really good too.” Said Jordan. She added, “she’s even more, for me for the gallery.”
“Maybe I’ll have Allison look at mine and see if she can do something different it needs updating. Said Robin.
“Yeah, maybe she can do something for you.” Said Jordan and Sam both.
They poured themselves another Margarita went back out front now all they need is people, it is about 6 o’clock. Jordan called her mom and asked her if she wanted to ride down and she said no she was going to walk. She was just heading out the door bringing champ and Nikita with her. Jordan got up and poured a margarita for her mom and sat it outside by one of the beach chairs. Then she got the bones for the dogs and sat down and waited. They got there about 10 minutes later. And she gave them the bones and showed her mom where her drink was.
“Thank you, Jordan!” Said her mom then she added,” how is everybody tonight?”
Everybody answered good and said they were glad to hear the good news. She thanked them all said she was so glad to.
Whether it was on purpose or not while Sam was making small talk with Robin to put her hand on Jordan’s thigh which sent shockwaves through her body. She put her hand on top of Sam’s and she turned to Jordan and smiled. Jordan was sure it was on purpose and smiled back. She leaned forward and whispered in Sam’s ear, “you just wait till I get you home!” Sam whispered back, “that goes both ways love!” “Oh, what you do to me!” Whispered Jordan. Sam just grinned. Everyone started showing up and Jordan got up started mixing more margaritas. Madison and Allison showed up then Mary and Robert then Jared and Levi and Scott showed up at the same time. Jordan got everyone drink then she asked Jared if he would help with the barbecuing tonight.
“What are we having?” Asked Jared.
“Chicken, corn on the cob and baked potato.” Answered Jordan.
“Sure, I’ll help and Levi said he would too.” Said Jared and Levi.
Then she remembered she wanted Allison to call her dad and asked where they can meet tomorrow. She found her. She said she would, stepping inside to call. She came back outside and told her where he was going to be at after 5 o’clock. Jordan said thanks. Allison said she hoped she could help. Jordan replied that they were going to try. Then Jordan decided to check on the reservations to make sure they had a hotel room. They did.
Jordan also checked on the potatoes, pressing them they were getting soft so she turned it down low. Then a thought came to her that she had not thought of before that was about Sam’s family and thought she would talk to her about it tonight.
She asked Jared and Levi if they were ready to start barbecuing the chicken and corn on the cob. They replied yes she helped them bring out the bowls and the corn on the cob. Jordan asked if everybody was ready for another round of margaritas? Everyone said yes. So she went and to makes more up. She went around topping off everybody’s glass. Then sit down to drink her own.
She thought about Madison and look for her. She was right behind her, so she turned around in her chair and got her attention. “Madison I’m going to give you Robin’s number so if you have any problem while I’m gone okay?” Madison said, “okay, give it to me now, I will put it on my phone. So, Jordan did and decided to give her, her cell phone number too. Just in case, she couldn’t get a hold of Robin.
Sam leaned over and gave Jordan a kiss on the cheek then Jordan took Sam’s face in her hands and kissed her on the lips!
Jordan and whispered in her ear “let’s go to your place tonight!” Sam whispered back in Jordan’s ear,” you want to be naughty!” She grinned. Then they heard Jared say chicken and corn on the cob is about done.
Jordan said, “Everybody wants to fix the potatoes now. Come on inside!” When they would do fixing them they moved to the barbecue grill and Jerry fixed their plates. He did ask if they wanted dark meat or white meat. Levi did both their plates. Everyone was able to eat in silence and when finished, they all said congrats to the chefs. Jared, Levi and Jordan took the bows. Jordan said, “You are more than welcome!” She added, “especially for my mom, who is in great health! I love you mom!”
“ Thanks Jordan, I love you too!” Said her mom. Jordan went and gave her a hug and kiss. Everyone clapped. “Everybody is welcome to stay in have more margaritas if they like. I’m leaving with Sam.” She added,” mom you want to ride with us?”
“Sure would!” Said her mom.
“You ready to go now?” Asked Jordan.
Her mom answered, “Sure, I’m ready!”
Then they left after their goodbyes. Jordan added, “see you all at the Coos Bay inn on Friday!” They took Jordan’s Jeep and were going to leave early in the morning. They dropped Jordan’s mom off and she said, “I’ll see you on Friday I am going to ride up with Susan and Robert okay?” Jordan said okay and have a safe trip down.” Don’t forget to take your iron pills and you’re sure.” Jordan added.
They said goodbye and Jordan kissed her mom and hugged her real tight and they left to Sam’s house
“you know, I forgot to pack a bag!” Said Jordan. Then Sam asked,” you want to go back to your house?”
“No, we’ll just do it in the morning, that okay?” Asked Jordan. Sam said sure. Then Sam put her hand on Jordan’s thigh and Jordan jumped in her seat. And said, “ you’re going to have to stop doing that when I’m driving!" She laughed. And Sam laughed, “it was nice that I know I can still do it to you!”
Jordan did agree on that. They were at Sam’s house and went inside. Sam asked, “you want another Margarita?” “Sure I’d love one!” Answered Jordan. Sam made them then put on a fire and sat their glasses down. She threw down all the throw pillows like she did last time. While Jordan was still standing, Sam knelt down on one knee and open the little box and proceeded to ask Jordan,” we you do me the honor’s too of marrying me?” Jordan’s hand touched her mouth and she said, “yes I will marry you!” Sam the ring on Jordan’s finger stood up and hugged her and kissed her passionately!!!
Then she said,” I have to send a picture to Robin and she got her phone and sent it. She got a reply phone call from Robin saying, “oh my Goodness, that’s so sweet! You guys have a wonderful night okay!” Jordan answered, “oh I’m sure we will, good night Robin!” She answered goodnight back.
Jordan and Sam sat down on the throw pillows and sipped their margaritas Jordan kept looking at her ring. It was beautiful one carat diamond with two birthstones one on each side.
“I didn’t expect this at all!” Said Jordan as she leaned over and gave Sam a kiss and added,” Thank you!”

Jordan and Sam finish what they could and paid the waitress then walked Jordan’s mom to her car and said see you this weekend. Her mom said,” I’ll get the money bag every evening from Madison okay?” “Sure, that would be great!” Answered Jordan.
Jordan hugged her mom and kissed her again and told her how much she loved her and her mom said the same. Jordan said,”see you this weekend, K?” Her mom said, “you bet!” Jordan watched her mom leave then they got in the Jeep and began the road trip. Jordan asked, “you want to stop at Starbucks and get a coffee?” Sam said,” sure sounds great!” Jordan got a mocha coffee latte and Sam got a caramel cappuccino. Now they were ready to go.
The whole five, hour trip they made small talk while listening to Joss Stone, Phoebe Snow, Melissa Etheridge, and Indigo Girls. Sam yet kept teasing Jordan by trying to grab her thigh.

“We understand you have a bit of problem,” said Sam. She added, “how can we help?”
“I fear that I’m going to be set up and framed.” Said Chief. He added,” there are several people involved with embezzling funds that are for the people of my tribe.”
Jordan asked, “how are they doing this?”
Chief said, “they have been forging my name and I found out they have private accounts at the bank. They have been bribing the teller they use and sheriff Preston Scott! I don’t know which city Council members are involved yet. But I am supposed to meet one of them tonight. He says he knows who.”
“So how can we help?” Said Jordan.
Chief said, “you two are going to be my lookout when I meet with this City Council member.”
“Sure, we can do that.” Said Sam. She added, “then I could have a private talk with one of the detectives to get search warrants for all their accounts!”
“When are you to meet with him?” Said Sam.
“7 o’clock in the parking lot away from the building.” Said Chief.
“You too will sit here and watch out the window okay?” Said Chief.
Jordan said, “we can do that.”
Chief said,” all we need to do is wait right now and have another beer.” So, he motioned for the waitress and she came over and they ordered their drinks.
Chief asked,” how is Allison?”
Jordan answered, “she’s worried about you, but we got them an apartment and their safety!”
Sam added,” and they’ve got jobs.”
Chief said, “thank you so much for helping them and me. I hope this works!”
Jordan added, “we will do whatever we can to help.”
Jordan asked, “I have a question for you and you don’t have to, but I want to ask?” She added, “would you help us get married in Astoria?”
Chief said, “it would be an honor!”
Jordan said,” we are so thankful for you to help us get married!”
Chief finished his beer says about that time. He got up checked his watch said 7 o’clock went outside to the back of the parking lot and waited. Jordan and Sam could see him clearly. They watched and waited. Then a man showed up. They were talking then the man started walking away but there was a gunshot he went down. Chief pulled out his gun and started shooting in the direction of the gunshot. He Went over to the man checked for a pulse. Jordan and Sam were already outside on the first gunshot. Whoever it was, he was gone because they looked all around. Sam called 911 and sheriff showed up before anybody else. He took chiefs gun handcuffing him.
“Why are you handcuffing him?” Said Sam she added,” it came from a different direction!”
“Well, I witnessed the chief shooting that man it will show up with ballistics. Who are you two?”
Sam said,” I’m from the Astoria PD detective Samantha Parker and this is my friend Jordan.”
“Well, you’re out of your jurisdiction! So go back inside and leave me to do my job! Let’s go Chief!” Began walking to his car when the ambulance and other police vehicles showed up. Jordan and Sam told Chief, not to worry that they will straighten everything out, they promised!
Sam went up to the detective and introduced herself said,” Chief didn’t do it! The shot came over there, but we couldn’t find a man and then they sheriff showed up.”
“Why are you here?” Said the detective who introduced himself as Detective Scott Holmes.
“We were here to talk to the Chief because he was worried about getting framed to keep him quiet about the embezzling by certain City Council members and bribery of the teller they use at the bank and the sheriff Preston James.”
“Chief yelled out two names, Justin O’Neil and Alan Donovan. You need to get warrants for all four bank accounts and I would just do it quickly!” Said Sam. She added, “they’ve been forging the Chief’s name to get access to the funds.”
“These are pretty heinous crimes you’re implying, but I’ll look into it okay?” The detective said.
“You need to act quickly because the sheriff is up to something I think he’s going to frame him for the murder of this man who gave him the names of the embezzlers before he was shot.” Sam said.
Detective Scott Holmes looked at the man on the ground and said, “he was Leonard Hayes. He was a nice guy never gave you any trouble.” He added, “I promise I’ll look into it! Can probably get the Chief in about an hour okay?”
“Okay thank you detective Scott we’ll go get something to eat while we wait.” Said Sam.
“Yes thank you!” Said Jordan.
“Here’s my card, can you call when he’s ready?” Asked Sam.
“Will do.” Said the detective. He added, “would you be willing to come down and make a statement tomorrow say around 9 o’clock?”
“Yes, both of us would.” Said Sam and Jordan nodded.
“Well, I better get down to the precinct talk to the chief white owl.” Said the detective.
“We’ll be waiting.” Said Sam.
“You want to go back to the tavern and order something there?” Asked Jordan.
“Yes, I could use a stronger drink, how about you?” Asked Sam.
“Yes, I could too.” Said Jordan.
They went back to the tavern and sat the same booth and motioned of waitress over they order two margaritas double shot. As they waited, looked at a menu. They both decided on the chicken fried steak sandwich and fries. After the waitress came and went both took a sip of their drinks and they were strong. They were glad that they were going to eat something along with these margaritas.
They had drunk half their margaritas, by the time their food came, so they were filling a little lightheaded from not eating all day.
“Sure glad we are eating something, by the time we get done, it will be time to go pick up chief.” Said Jordan.
“Yes, I’m glad to I feel a bit lightheaded.” Said Sam.
They ate what they could and asked for the check. And Jordan’s phone rang she answered it and it was Robin checking on them and Jordan apologized for not letting them know they got here. And she felt Robin in on what all happened. “We are expecting a call when we can get the Chief.” Said Jordan. She added, “how are the girls?”
“They’re doing just fine.” Answered Robin.
Then Sam’s phone rang, Jordan said, “I think that’s our phone call. I’ll call you back later okay?” Asked Jordan.
“Sure, that’s fine.” Said Robin. They hung up and Jordan looked at Sam she was still on the phone and this said: “okay, we’ll be there soon.”
“They’re ready to release him.” Said Sam.
They paid the tab, left the tip, and went to the precinct. Detective Scott walked with the Chief and said,” sorry, you were even here. The sheriff is been put on leave without pay while we get to search warrants for the bank accounts of all four persons of interest and I pulled a 45 from the sheriff's trunk, we will see if he was the shooter.”
Chief white owl said thanks again detective. Asked to go down to the tavern, I would like to buy you guys a drink. Jordan and Sam looked at each other and said why not. They could walk to the inn and asked, “where do you live Chief?” He answered, “walking distance.” They said okay. They motion the waitress over and she took drink orders and came back and said these were in the house.
They all three stayed until closing when they were outside the bar they asked the chief if he was sure he didn’t live very far. He answered yes and added he usually walked. “Detective Scott here, is this Sam? I’m on way I heard the explosion with the bomb squad. Sam said, “ I believe chief white owl is in extreme danger can you send somebody over to his place. He is walking to his place. Does he I’m sending a bomb squad there too!” Said the detective.
“Okay, any word on the chief yet?” Said Sam.
“We got him safe and sound!” Said detective Scott.
“Thank goodness you got him!” Said Sam.
“It seems had a bomb rigged to go off when he opened the door. The bomb squad is taking care of it right now!” Said detective Scott.
“ What about the sheriff's place. Asked Jordan to Sam.
“What about the Sheriffs Pl., Jordan wants to know?” Asked Sam.
“They’re searching his barn and his place right now. And we got him in handcuffs!” The detective said. Sam told him what she found out at the front desk.
“Team at the Sheriff's place are finding dynamite, c4, timers and wiring!” Answered Detective Scott.
“He has got a long list of charges!” Said Sam.
“He spilt the beans about everything including the money embezzling!” Said detective Scott.
“I guess he wants to make a deal.” Said Sam.
“With murder, two attempted murders, and money embezzling I don’t think he’s done get much of the deal.” Answered Detective Scott. He added, “We’re arresting the teller and the two City Council members that Leonard mentioned before he was shot.”
“I would like the bomb squad to go over your room before you go back here okay?” Said Detective Scott.
“ Okay fine by me and Jordan” said Sam as she put her hand on Jordan’s side which made her jump. Sam laughed and Jordan laughed. They needed that. What they been through tonight and yesterday.
After the bomb squad came and checked out the room they were free to go back in. They were tired and neither one was in the mood at this moment. So they just went to sleep holding each other.
Next morning they woke to the phone ringing, it was Jordan’s. Mom was calling about the news she heard on the TV wanted to make sure they were okay.
“Yes, we’re fine mom! It was too late to call you last night.” Said Jordan. She reassured her mom one more time then hung up after she said she’d see her this weekend and she would explain more then.
“We may be getting another phone call from Robin soon.” Said Jordan. She added, “maybe I should call her first.” She called Robin and explained everything Robin was glad they were okay and said see you this weekend.
Then Sam’s phone rang and it was detective Scott, “Yes, what do you need detective? We will be down soon.” She said goodbye.
“ He wants us to come down and make a statement about everything that we have been through.” Said Sam. She added, “we will go do that and have breakfast then your mine the rest today up here, in this room, on this bed.”
“No argument from me!” Said Jordan.
They went down to the precinct and gave their statements to detective Scott. While Jordan was waiting on Sam was talking to detective Scott he phoned the hotel and had them take champagne and strawberries to the room.
Jordan asked Sam if they could skip breakfast and go ahead to the room. Sam said sure we can do that.

They motioned them waitress over and ordered two wheat beers with orange slices and the pitcher of dark ale.
They asked how he was doing and he replied, “I’m glad this is behind us now!”
“So are we!” Sam and Jordan said. Sam added,” Sheriff got desperate should I say ex-Sheriff!”
The drinks came Jordan said,” I haven’t had a wheat beer in a while.” Sam said the same. Sam added, “They’re really good!” They toasted to good health and good karma.
“We were going to order something to eat, would you care to join us?” Asked Jordan.
“Depends on what that is.” Said the chief.
Sam answered, “breakfast!”
The chief said, “sure, the finest meal of the day!”
Motioned the waitress back over and asked for menus and then they ordered.
They ate while chatting small talk and then Jordan and Sam ordered another drink.
“Our friends and family are coming tomorrow would like very much to introduce you to them is that okay?” Asked Jordan.
“Sure that’s fine, are they going to be at the wedding?” Asked the chief.
“Of course, they will be!” Answered Jordan and Sam. Sam added, “it's just our closest family and friends. We will decide on a date in September before we leave that will work for everyone okay?”

They both decided it was time to go and was going to walk around for a while then go take a nap and asked him if they wanted to meet back at 7 o’clock chief said that sounded good to him. He said their goodbyes and left. They walked all the way down to the beach and back to the hotel. And went to the room to take a nap and relax. They laid together while they fell asleep next thing they knew now waking up to it being dark and 6 o’clock. They had on the same clothes and fix their hair which was easy because of it being a cropped cut black hair and green eyes on Sam Brown with blonde highlights and blue eyes on Jordan. They strolled slowly down towards the tavern it wasn’t quite 7 o’clock so they took their time. And walked inside and saw he was already there. They went to the booth and sat down and asked how he was doing. He said fine but he misses his daughter. Jordan thought to herself they would call and see if that can fit Madison and Allison on the road trip up here to see him.
“We’ll see what we can do!” Answered Jordan.
They ordered their drinks and saw he already had a pitcher of beer and also ordered nachos lots jalapenos. They were glad to see the chief help himself to the nachos and they had ordered more jalapenos. By this time, they were ready for another drink and ordered more wheat beers.
Then two guys stood up behind the waitress and remarked why isn’t he on the reservation the waitress turned around and told them to shut up or get out. One of the guys knocked a chair over made Sam stand up, then Jordan. They both said they didn’t want any trouble just leave the chief alone.
The guys stood there for a minute and started laughing and then they turned and walked out the door still laughing.
“I guess you get that a lot!” Said Jordan. Chief added, “yeah they are just fools!”
“Enjoy yourselves!” Sam said with a toast. They toasted to good health and good karma. Then Detective Scott came in, pulled a chair up to their booth.
“Chief, I need you tomorrow come in and identify the forgeries okay?” Detective Scott asked.
“Sure thing, first thing tomorrow.” Said the chief.
“I think I’ll have one of those wheat beers.” Said Detective Scott.
“We will buy you one, for thank you!” Said Sam and Jordan. They motioned the waitress over and ordered another wheat beer and said this is for the detective.”
“I’m off-duty I’m just Scott.” Answered Scott. He added, “how have you guys been since last night?”
“For better thanks!” They both said. Chief added, “the same too.”
“Well I’m glad, couldn’t have done it without you guys!” Said Scott.
“Let’s celebrate!” Said Scott.
They toasted to good health and good karma again. Jordan remembers their honeymoon deal and decided to bring it up back at the hotel later. She also thought about Sam’s parents and wanted to know more about them.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the waitress asking if they wanted another wheat beer Jordan looked at Sam they said yes, they would thank you.
And they got another pitcher for chief. They celebrated till around 12 o’clock decided to head back to the hotel. They asked if the chief wanted them to walk him home. He said no, thank you. Scott said he make sure he got home. They said okay good. They said their good night’s and left. When they got back to the hotel room, Jordan asked Sam if she thought about the honeymoon deal. She said yes she had so they got a quarter and Jordan took heads for the Bahamas and Sam took tales for Italy. Sam flip the coin and it landed on heads and Jordan was pleased but sad the same time for Sam. Sam said all I want to do is be with you no matter where we go. Then Jordan said, “we can have beach anytime why don’t we go to Italy?”
