I looked at one (yes, I admit, only one) of @genesisledger's posts after reading the comment. He does a very good job interlacing introductory comments and personal anecdotes with material that is either cut and paste from Wikipedia (without sources) or AI generated. Consider this from his most recent post
The first mention of the village dates back to 1240, under the name of "Ecclesia de Viviario." The village was then a parish, attached to the diocese of Rouen. The current church of Saint-Martin-du-Vivier, in Seine-Maritime, dates from 1858. It was built in the Neo-Roman style, replacing an old Romanesque church from the 11th century, which was in poor condition. Its narrow streets and old houses offer a fascinating glimpse of traditional Norman architecture.
A bit further, Fontaine-sous-Préaux is just as enchanting.
This village, with its tranquil atmosphere and picturesque landscapes, seems straight out of a fairy tale. Historically, Fontaine-sous-Préaux has been marked by agriculture and livestock farming, a heritage that is still reflected today in its preserved rural landscape.
He wrote this? It reads like a promotional tour guide. (Edit: especially the turns of phrase in "offer a fascinating glimpse of traditional Norman architecture" and "still reflected today in its preserved rural landscape") At the very least there should be documentation for this info. (Edit: And any writer who can produce such crisp, clean, professional prose would know that documentation should be provided)
I asked ChatGPT to analyze my poem while writing this reply to your comment. Here's the interpretation it provided for my first two stanzas:
Stanza 1:
Symbolism: "wings opening like a breath"
Interpretation: The wings symbolize freedom or liberation. The comparison to a breath suggests a natural, life-sustaining movement.
Stanza 2:
Symbolism: "it's alright; it's moving to light"
Interpretation: The movement towards light often symbolizes enlightenment, positivity, or clarity. The speaker may be expressing reassurance or encouragement.
What are the odds that a human reader would so closely parallel what ChatGPT sees in my poem? (Edit: And a human reader who professes to not have read much poetry until he started with Dreem in November 2023?) The rest of the stanzas aren't as close; he obviously (to me) broke the stanzas apart and asked particular or unique questions ... but he absolutely used AI to interpret this.
I stand by my downvote.
