Won't you be my neighbor? C'mon, it'll be fun!
Each morning and evening the folks at Garden of the Goats have chore time. Sometimes it's the children who do it, and sometimes it is ma and pa. This week our middle daughter is away at camp, so I'm filling in to make the work load a little lighter on my son. I thought it would be fun if you came along!
First stop, we must say hello to the birds! They came running to greet us, and they're so excited for kitchen scraps of cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli.
Oh, look! We have an interesting flower. I don't know if it's a weed or flower, do you? It's pretty, isn't it? It's blooming right by the wisteria. Well, while we're over here, we may as well peek at the bean plot. Surprise! We've got the yard long string beans coming on beautifully! They are so good either sautéed in butter or cooked in bacon grease with ham and potatoes.
Oops, we need to quit lolly gagging and get back to the chores. Next stop is the barn. We've got to dump out old water and refill the dishes with clean fresh water. @goatgarden rigged up a hitch for the dump cart on the mower so hauling water is easier. No more carrying one bucket at a time. Do you want to drive?
Next we'll put hay in the feeders for the goats. Someone is getting impatient! She loves walking her goat, Joanie. Ok, ok. Time to get the goats! This is my favorite part, too. Joanie wants you to pet her.
Ralph isn't cooperating with the camera tonight, but you got to see him in my earlier post today, right? Now say hi to Potsie and Fonzie. Enough petting for now. It's time to walk them to the barn. Now that the goats are safe and snug, it's time to feed and water the dogs. But looks like Ozzy has found something better out here. Ok. The hard part is over. My son is finishing up with the chickens. He's collected the one and only egg tonight, darn black snake, and he's feeding them layer crumbles. I believe he's feeding the other dog, too. Time to head back to the house now and feed the kitties! This is Mama Cat. Her real name is Milkdud, but I call her Mama. Here's one of her kittens (I'm sorry I've forgotten her name). And this is the one and only Tiger. He's very friendly if you'd like to pet him. There are a few more cats running around somewhere. They're probably hiding from the camera. Ok, we've made it back to the porch. Would you like to sit outside and join me with a glass of iced tea? Thank you for joining me. Did you enjoy our walk?
