Being poor is not cause for laughter, nor is it sin, but if there is a willingness to brighten one's day, bliss will be achieved. The people of God the Creator are called to imitate Jesus, and He never rejected the poor, welcomed them all, either by feeding them, or by healing their illnesses or ailments, along with sharing with them the good wishes of the Father.
