So I’m here for Hive blog post month. I’m going to do my best to publish a post every day for the month of November. In the process, writing muscles will stretch and build. It’s a clean slate account with no followers, we’ll see how that goes.
My namesake, the man was a badass. He was a boxer who turned philosopher. While studying philosophy he supported himself by carrying water to gardens back and forth across town. The story goes that Cleanthes worked so many hours he was accused of lying and taken to court. Townsfolk came to vouch for him and testify that he actually works as much and as hard as he claims. Badass!
Person #1: complains incessantly about problems to anyone who will listen.
Person #2: contributes time, talent, or treasure to solving problems.
Which one wins?
Person #1 goes nowhere, stuck in the mud. Soon there are few people who bother to listen.
Person #2 builds momentum, makes allies, gets things done. This is called a “bias towards action”.
It’s no contest.
