The Unforgivable is a predominantly female film about shattered lives that try to put the pieces together to give meaning and shape to existence. The balances are all unstable, precarious and second chances are a mirage. The truth is that in most cases we only have one chance.

Sandra Bullock is phenomenal in the wet and shabby guise of an exhausted but far from compliant woman. Forced to gamble her life and femininity for a more important role, that of a mother who is more mother than many. A mother who does not generate but cares, protects, defends with her claws and teeth what remains of her family and therefore of her very existence.

Gli equilibri sono tutti instabili, precari e le seconde chance sono un miraggio. La verità è che nella maggior parte dei casi abbiamo una sola possibilità.

Sandra Bullock è fenomenale nelle vesti umide e logore di una donna esausta ma tutt'altro che arrendevole. Costretta a giocarsi la vita e la femminilità per un ruolo più importante, quello di una madre più madre di molte. Una madre che non genera ma cura, protegge, difende con gli artigli e i denti quello che le resta della sua famiglia e quindi della sua stessa esistenza.
